Torque management never shows up as KR... EVER! This has gotta be one of the most asinine claims I've ever heard.
Also, if false knock isn't real why do I get 176,000 results when I search "false knock retard" on google?

Why do vendors sell false knock elimination kits?
Why do so many topics come up on this very forum about a sway bar hitting the downpipe and causing false KR?
Seems like an awful lot of discussion on something that doesn't even exist.

Wrong... pre-ignition or detonation is 'knock'.
A sway bar hitting the downpipe and causing the sensor to trigger 'KR' is not knock. It's false knock.

Do you mean Knock Retard or actual Knocking occuring in the engine?

The KR is always real because Knock retard is the retarding of the timing that is occurring due to the PCM picking up what it believes is knock from the knock sensors. It doesn't matter what is causing it to pull the timing. If the PCM is pulling timing and reporting KR, the KR is real.

The cause for the KR can be false, as in the knock signal can be falsified.

Unless you guys have a different defintion of KR from say the GM service manual or the HPT manual.
