Right after I replaced my BM resistor I ran my car through a car wash at SA in January in MN and the next morning I cranked it up and got nothing but smoke coming through the vents. Water from the car wash leaked through and took out the BM and resistor. Lesson learned....

I use a Northfield, MN drive through car wash in winter and would get soap/water dripping on any passengers feet until I installed the deflector.

MN winters are great aren't they?

If you have climate control, the resistor pack is a $125 module. You have to be careful hard-wiring the motor as I have had smoking wires trying this. I have had more blower motor issues with my car than I all other cars I have ever owned combined! The first blower motor went out because of water getting into it and rusting out the inside. So I replaced it and thought everything was fine. It quit working again the next summer. I used a multimeter to diagnose it and found the resistor module was gone. I opened it up and it was all rusted out too. ? Thats when I messed around with hard wiring it to a plain on/off switch. So I ended up throwing in a new resistor module last winter and this summer, 3 days after getting the a/c recharged, the blower started acting wierd and quit working altogether. GRRR! I pulled the resistor pack out again and water poured out of it. Well, before I write a novel, heres a couple pics of what was causing all the trouble. A plugged drain for the core backing up water into all the electronics.
