Here is the link for the R&R of the resistor replacement:ClubGP: Anytime you replace the BM and you have the original GM resistor it's a good idea to replace it at the same time as these have a high failure rate. The new resistor you buy at the parts store is an upgraded part and should last the life of the car....

Nice link!!
May have saved me a few choice words when I did mine the first time. Make sure you install the water deflector or it may go out again in a few years.

Re: Heater stopped blowing
I use a Northfield, MN drive through car wash in winter and would get soap/water dripping on any passengers feet until I installed the deflector.
MN winters are great aren't they?

Re: Heater stopped blowing
If you have climate control, the resistor pack is a $125 module. You have to be careful hard-wiring the motor as I have had smoking wires trying this. I have had more blower motor issues with my car than I all other cars I have ever owned combined! The first blower motor went out because of water getting into it and rusting out the inside. So I replaced it and thought everything was fine. It quit working again the next summer. I used a multimeter to diagnose it and found the resistor module was gone. I opened it up and it was all rusted out too. WTF? Thats when I messed around with hard wiring it to a plain on/off switch. So I ended up throwing in a new resistor module last winter and this summer, 3 days after getting the a/c recharged, the blower started acting wierd and quit working altogether. GRRR! I pulled the resistor pack out again and water poured out of it. Well, before I write a novel, heres a couple pics of what was causing all the trouble. A plugged drain for the core backing up water into all the electronics.
Re: Heater stopped blowing
Yup happens a lot, trail blazers have the same problem.
