I posted this before, but I was driving the dash flickered and the car died. The car would crank but not start. The fuel pump wouldn't turn on so I jumped to conclusion that is was the fuel pump because they go bad. (wish i didn't replace it, but i learned my lesson ) Also replaced the ignition switch. I tested the old fuel pump and it worked!, I then hot wired the new fuel pump while all connected in the car and it turned on. So while it was being hot wired i tried starting the car but that wasn't working. I opened the schrader valve and had 0psi. I checked the fuel pump fuse, relays. They were all good. But the only thing that mind boggles me is that when the key is in the on position the only light i get is the oil light and the security light. Isnt the check engine light usually on?? So that leads me in the direction that the computer isn't working or getting the signals from the fuel pump and not turning it on?? if anyone has ideas, please help im desperate lol. Im no car guy but i know the basics. Thanks guys

Okay so I went into the pcm connectors. and tested some things. I tested the ignition power voltage and that was fine. I tested the pcm ground that was fine. and I tested the battery power voltage and had no voltage running through it.. so now what? Could that be the problem

sections of the battery cable itself are fusible links.

if your car is 97 to 03 im assuming, look at your underhood fuse box there will be a red cover on the top with a post and 2 or 3 wires fitted to the post. one of those will be orange(prolly faded a bit) it will also have some numbers on it. if you dont have power coming from that wire then the link is blown and needs to be replaced.

I have a 2000 ftp. And on the fusebox there's a black wire going to the post. And a red wire for my sub woofers. No orange wire

TMK there's no link on the positive battery cables. And ...there should only be one cable to that post if you are stock.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Make sure you have the right pin on the right connector for the right year. Then follow the schematic for which fuse power comes off and follow the wire if needed.

When my yellowtop battery died, something similar happened. I'd try a different battery if all else fails.
