Welp, I had a busy day.. And discovered all the issues with the Regal, It leaks coolant all over the passenger side of the car and runs down around the wheel well and drips from the subframe bolt on the passenger side (coolant elbow?) And then the weird things.. I get this ticking noise like somethings stuck in my tire that increases with speed all the way up until 30 then it stops, It comes from the passenger side and no there's nothing in my tire. And then from 3-4 thousand rpm at 1/2 throttle of above I get this real high pitched whining sound that almost sounds like blower whine but it's definitely not, also coming from the passenger side.. So all my issues seem to lie on the passenger side of the car.. Any help?
Thanks lol. I just hate having issues right off the bat.. I guess the high pitched noise could be a pulley or something but the ticking is definitely wheel/suspension related.
At least I'm not the only one.. I hate it, what else could it be though?
Crappy picture due to being dark out....but, she made her grand entrance into the new house garage this evening! We finally got possession!
Now I just have to remember to leave and enter the drive at an angle....already smacked the front bumper once today. Damn subdivision drives and not being allowed to cut the concrete out.
i don't know. i looked at both axles and nothing looked like it was hitting it.. thought it was suspension because it did it when i went over the speed bumps at my university. but then realized that it didn't while doing down the road on flat no bumps or anything. so i don't know. but yes. realized too that the frequency of it went up and down with speed.
Yeah mine makes noise on flat road, while turning, while speeding up or slowing down, and doesn't change under braking.. Trying to post a video.
Axles. They can fail regardless if there is a tear in the boot or not.
That was my only thought.. I also feel a bit of knocking as I turn so I knew they were on their way out. Could that be the reason to my high pitched whining noise as well? I doubt it but it's worth asking lol.
yeah... that actually isn't even close to what mine is...
thats def. axles... mine is a lot quieter and not that consistent...
That's why I took a video. I'm awful at describing things lol.
Went to the Capn's place today for a GM fix day. Finally fixed the stupid exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold to downpipe with a new gasket, broke some tools, got mad, and had Matt finish the job while the Cap'n showed off his new Regal and found out various issues with it. It leaks Dexcool, it has a weird whining noise under load, and the control arms are shot to hell.
I'm sure another GM fix day is coming soon. As for me, I'm pulleying down this week.
Well looks like I have an axle, possible wheel bearing and possible tie rod to do then lol. And a LIM gasket job and coolant elbows. Not awful.
i would be surprised if its tie rod. never heard of the rods being bad when clicking while turning.. always was axles for me. and my clicking still thinking its suspension links.
