I want to replace front sub assembly bushings with a set from Dorman. But I am not sure if they are pressed in. I do plan on replacing front sway bar bushings too. I also ordered a new sway bar for the rear with end links.

They separate easily enough. Getting them back in required some grease to lubricate. Just be very safe about supporting the weight of the subframe and undo the dog bone mounts.

600 bucks????? never go back there again. get under your car, you need a 18 mm socket. 1/2 drive is best.

I did lower subframe when I replaced sway bar bushings a couple of years ago. I remember dropping subframe by removing bolts a bit

jack stands under the car, then a jack under the sub frame middle, front or back same job. remove the front or rear bolts while the jack holds the frame up, then lower it enough to pop the old crap out.

I'll be replacing the two for now closest to sway bar. I need to remove both bolts fully while supporting middle of subframe. Lowering jack should give me about 1/2 to 1 inch clearance??

dont go lower then say 3 inches or you'll rip the steering shaft apart. and yes remove both bolts, lower the jack some.

Loosen dog legs at the top of engine should allow subframe to lower easily? Last time I removed bolts and lowered jack it moved about 1/2- 1 inch. How do I get it to lower further?

i find it hard to believe the jack was dropped and the frame stayed up there by its self and only dropped a 1.5 inches.

heres at least 6 inches, rack is also removed. so no shaft in place any more to rip apart.

Would you suggest using a scissors jack or regular floor jack?

ive used a bottle jack and a floor jack, both work fine. you can un bolt the dog bones if you like, cant hurt.

Is it ok to add a slight bit of grease to move into place? I hope this solves my front clunk noise when pulling away or stopping. Definitely feel it in floor board.

if need be lube em up.

you might have a loose bolt if you had the frame dropped in the past. i had one that needed to be made tighter, did the clunk and could feel it in the floor under my feet. only from a dead stop.

There are only two bolts in the back. I remember torquing them at 135 foot pounds. The mechanic several years ago added grease to bushing. Said it would help. Obviously it did not
