    So I started driving my GTP. I got the tranny working but now I have a pretty loud knocking sound. I don't think it's a rod knock tho because it's intermittent..
    It doesn't matter what the engine temp is. It speeds up and slows with engine speed. Does it in all gears. P,N,D ect. It will be there one minute and go away the next. Always just as loud. Never gets quieter. It's there or it's not.

    I have an idea what I think it is but wanted some other opinions first. Thanks for any help

    busted flex plate?

    98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

    That was my thought. I couldn't see anything when I turned the engine over but it's not very easy to see in there either.

    Does the engine have to be pulled to replace it or can it just be shifted to the side and replaced?

    post a vid if you can, that will help a ton.

    should it be the flex, you can lift and separate and get to the bolts and swap it. leaving most everything hooked up to the engine. make sure you support the tranny so it dont drop or fall.

    L67 flex plates do break from time to time.
    97 GTP Sold-prolly rusted away by now
