I have a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP with the 5.3L V-8 with 59,000 miles completely stock. Lately, I have been having an issue with the transmission which seems to be fairly common, When the im driving then stopping at a stop sign or stoplight and then try to go the vehicle seems very hesitant to go, will shudder for a second or two and CLUNK quite harshly into gear about half-way through the intersection.i took it to the dealer but they could not find a problem with it doesn't do it all the time. my 5yr 100,000 mile warranty will be up in June and i have a feeling that it will go out soon after that. so my question is how to give it the final blow to finish it off so i can get it fixed under warranty the service adviser suggested that i do that as with no questions asked i guess they know the crap they sell any help will be great.

    burnouts.

Doing tons of 3-1 downshifts and 4-2 downshifts.

Raping the gas pedal around turns to destroy the diff.

Mashing the gas from a stop.

Since the trans is hydraulic draining all the fluid would just cause the trans to constantly slip.

    2 ideas here...
first idea- step 1- put car in neutral
step 2- depress gas pedal to the floor
step 3- slam shifter in to drive
seen plenty of derps do this and think it's cool their car can do a burnout.. lol
second idea- while driving the car, slightly depress brake pedal and move shifter from D to R... as you see the R is for race and it makes the car go very fast.
Although I'm pretty sure the engine cuts out when you do this... not sure, anyone try it?

If all else fails, unplug the transmission range sensor causing the trans to go into "limp mode" which will give you reverse and second gears only. Then all you need is a heavy right foot and let the thing die! Just remember to plug it back in and clear the codes before taking it to get fixed.

fwd car this would most likely kill the trans. and the whole idea behind the thought of this thread, kill it! have it towed to the dealer, bingo, new free trans

i had a 75 le mans and on the way to the junk yard, i got it up to 50 and threw it in reverse with the car floored, as it was coming to a screeching stop smoking the the tires in reverse i then threw it back into 1 st,(never letting off the gas) and did this for 10 blocks, everything held, i was shocked!

the look on my ride home face was priceless when we got to the junk yard to drop it off. as they were following me there.

I wish you lived closer, I would love to help you in person!

Best thing would be doing burnouts from reverse to drive then drive to reverse over and over again. It should only take about 20 times for this to work, just make sure you give it hell. That method requires the pcm to let it happen.

The second best (I've done this one) would be to do reverse cookies (circle motion) for a solid few minutes. I think mine was between 3 and 5, then slam it into drive and try a forward burnout. I did mine on ice, you should be able to use dirt just fine.

The third method I would reccomend after recently doing this one as well, is just having too much power for the trans. In your situation, with time constraints, this probably won't work, but stock trans can't hold much over 300 whp, so a nice turbo setup could get this done.

There is one last way I can think of, for a quick trans blowout. This is not reccomended by me due to safety concerns, but if the computer will let you. Take the car up to interstate speeds or higher and throw it in reverse. This should result in instant death of gears, and probably crack the bellhousing. This could also lock the wheels, which is where the concern for safety comes in.

Whichever method you choose, please film your trans destruction, and share it with us!

SO easy. When you feel it lagging into the next gear just fricken hammer it. It will rev so high and the tranny will be struggling until it will eventually just give up and die. This is how I broke mine!
