OK, I realized something the other day and it's been bugging me.

When I disconnected the transmission from the engine and started to open up the transmission, I realized that there was a wire harness stuck between the shifter (blackbox) and the transmission.....The harness had been disconnected, but it must have gotten caught between the two and consequently, got pulled off the other end somewhere. My problem right now is trying to figure out where the wire is supposed to go so I might repair it. Unfortunately, I haven't found any obvious answers. So I hope you can point me in the right direction.

Below is the wire I'm talking about. If you need more pics let me know.

Uhhh Ohhhh!!! That is the wire that goes down to the steering rack! If you didnt unplug it or make sure it was free and clear pulling the engine than it probably ripped the wires out of the rack. That is for a variable orfice in the rack to adjust steering feel under different conditions.

Haha, I did the Beavis impression yesterday too with something the wife said... I felt stupid afterwards though.

I'll check if the harness is removeable when I get home for the day.

OK guys, sorry for the delay.... in all honesty, i've kinda been slacking the last few days.

In any case, this is my best guess on where those wires were coming from. Can anyone confirm or deny? Also, does this mean I need a new rack? If so, where can I get a used one and how much will this cost me?

That looks like where the wires were, but I have never pulled them out so I cant say for sure. Regardless the wires are yanked out and I dont know of a way to repair them so you may need to replace the rack. Contact Morad Parts Company, they will be able to help you out with a good used steering rack.

well, Morad Parts doesn't have any. Any ideas where to get a rebuilt or new one? Or another used one for less than $150?

I have got them from my local Napa retailer but they are pretty expensive. Otherwise you could try calling parts stores, which will likely be special order only, OR try car-part.com. That is a nationwide junkyard search for just about anything.
