Are these things supposed to just protect your HIDs and have them still lit, or should they shut off the HIDs when in only DRL mode?

2 Audi BMW Mercedes CAR Warning Anti Flicker Cancellers FOR HID Conversion KIT | eBay
These things. Normally, the DRLs are not given full voltage when in DRL mode. This is apparently not good for a HID bulb, so the above type of things are supposed to solve this.?![]()
Just put tape over the daylight sensor on the dash it will keep the headlight system from using the pwm and frying the ballast of your hid system
Guess you don't understand how the drl's work then and no the eBay things may or may not work gm uses a specific pwm when the DRL is on so unless they know that freq range those capacitors won't work
Most people disable the DRL's based on info on the site. Not sure your year ..and I don't like Giant Piles anyhow..so I never looked into disabling it.
Basically, they simulate the halogen bulbs still being there, thus fooling the car and turning off any warning lights. They also prevent "flicker" of the HID that some vehicles can have.
You need to either:
1) disable the DRL's
2) hook DRL's to come on with full power
3) hook up the HID harness to come on with the ignition, thus acting as DRL's (also requires disabling of the factory DRL's)
I run HID's with a harness and disabled DRL's; all works just as it should.
Lights don't throw codes.. at least not on a GP
Search for the info..it's out there.
There is a good video out there for disabling them, but that depends on how you want to do it. There are two ways, and easy way by pulling a fuse, or a bit more challenging way by pulling the connector at the DRL resistor. Pulling the fuse will disable the DRL as well as the Auto headlights. I still wanted them active so I chose to pull the connector on the resistor. It's in the access panel on the drivers side in the dash. You will need a pocket screwdriver iirc and push the tabs inward at the same time to remove it. I was supposd to make a video or something about doing that.
Really? Well then just stick to my preferred method.
