Sir, do you have a MIG or a flux core welder? Clean it up and MIG some sheet metal in there. Overlap it about 2 inches (or more) to get into good metal. A thick sheet metal is harder to work with but it will enhance the structural integrity of the rocker. Use some good filler like tiger hair. Sand, primer, paint. Done

so here is a update to repair and weld on a new piece of metal a body shop quoted me 800 dollars for all rust removed and a new rocker panel he said it wasn't that bad and my rocker panel isnt bad but it'll look good to just put in a new one.

You can't really tell how bad the rocker is until you start grinding. If the manufacturer's welds are still intact, then just cut pieces of sheet to fit over the holes and start welding. Weld a small section, use the body hammer to get it tight to the original contour and weld a little more until it's all done. It's freekin easy...I taught myself.

What I'm saying is needing a new rocker is quite subjective. After you grind you may decide that it can be repaired by the aformetioned technique. It's not that easy to weld an entire new rocker in place. Just sayin.

Once you gain these skills you'll laugh at the body shop. Those guys are good but they're expensive.

    Comprendae?

was the shop you went to a national chain? because i have a similar issue, and i'm not sure where to go. i've searched and no place says they work with that kind of thing directly.

Grinder - or drill with grinding pad
Low voltage Flux core wire feed welder with wire - Harbor Freight
Sheet metal - Lows or Home Depot, Iduno, maybe 16 gauge
Bondo or maybe something a little better than Bondo
    Sand paper 60, 120, 220
    Primer and paint

You'll probably spend less money getting all this compared to paying the shop to do it...and you will be learning something.

Don't forget about YouTube University for some quick and dirty education.
