Ya, but does'nt the torque management only kick in under certain conditions? Don't have my tuner in front of me but is there not situations where torque management is activated and when it is not activated? Not arguing one way or the other but if Chris' torque management isn't being triggered then that scan is irrelevant to your point.

torque management kicks in during shifting, the rate of torque reduction is adjusted via estimated torque vs desired torque (generally speaking).

Torque management never shows up as KR... EVER! This has gotta be one of the most asinine claims I've ever heard.
Also, if false knock isn't real why do I get 176,000 results when I search "false knock retard" on google?
    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=%22false+knock+retard%22

Why do vendors sell false knock elimination kits?
Why do so many topics come up on this very forum about a sway bar hitting the downpipe and causing false KR?
Seems like an awful lot of discussion on something that doesn't even exist.

    Are we done yet?

So youre saying if abuse mode is triggered and spark is reduced, its just that. The spark is reduced and it will not show up as KR but just simply reduce to that value set in the abuse table?

Torque management is not knock and therefor does not trigger KR.

It may not technically be KNOCK retard... I guess you could call it ABUSE retard...

I guess my question is if you are commanding say 18*, the torque management kicks in, bringing it down to whatever value is in the settings (lets say 15*), then what would that be called?

I guess since the pcm is now commanding this timing, it technically is not KR. But, it is still retarding from what you want to command...

    right?

Torque management, can, at times, retard spark timing.
This does not show as KR. KR is only the PCM reacting to knock... whether it be real or false.

False knock is REAL KNOCk, no such thing as false. If the sensor picks up noise in the system, then it is knock. Whether it be mechanical or internal. Something is wrong and it needs fixed.

Wrong... pre-ignition or detonation is 'knock'.
A sway bar hitting the downpipe and causing the sensor to trigger 'KR' is not knock. It's false knock.

Are we really doing this right now?
This is like the twilight zone.

Anyway Chris, now that you have the fuel pump fixed and a tune do you notice a difference in power with e85? I filled up the other day at $2.69 a gallon with a smile on my face
    Stage 1 Comp Cam / 105 Springs / Yella Terra 1.7's / SLP Headers / Ported heads / 255 Walbro fuel pump / Siemans 60# Injectors / 2.8 Pulley / 180 stat, 104 AL's / Intense e85 tune / 3" ZZP exhaust / GXP seats / KYB Coilovers /

The sensor picks it up and tells the pcm to back the **** up...So yes, it is real knock. There is a problem, in this case, the downpipe and swaybar hitting eachother. Fix that, the knock goes away.

so if some one "knocked" you in the face would it be knock?????

Had this argument once with a science teacher about UFO's I said UFO's are bull**** and he decided to argue, I said ok lets go out side and you face away from me while I throw a damn brick at your head. You will be hit with a Unidentified Flying Object because you didn't know what hit you but you know something hit you right?

That's the damn PCM guy it doesn't matter if its internal to the engine or metal on metal it still picks it up as KNOCK !!!

maybe tomorrow ill bring some coloring crayons to class, and a special bottle of glue just for you snowflake
