I used to work for a contracting company as a software developer, and worked on an Air Force contract. I was talking to my manager about an issue I had resolved, and told him I figured out why people don't like working for the government...he asked why, and I told him that the solution to the issue was, "The MS patch for IE KO'd the CRL for RSO.".
He kinda blinked a bit, and told me I was brilliant for that statement. DoD (Department of Defense) LOVES using TLAs...(Two Letter Acronyms, Three Letter Acronyms).
i worked for a roofing repair co. they had walmart as a customer, who has the most square footage of roofing than any one else in the country.
any way the army core of engineers made the blue prints for the roof inspection. and the co i worked for went nuts with all the 2 and 3 letter TLAs. it was pretty funny cause you learned them rather fast, at least the more common ones.
2 co guys meet up and start busting on the codes, yeah i did a 100 lf of lm -1 and 3 lm-5's lol and back and fourth, if you didnt work there you would have no clue wtf we were talking about. even new guys would sit with their heads turned like a dog hearing a tone lol
the way they did the reports was we send back a form with the photo's numbered and a code attached to it, matching the form, (from the field) then they decode the the codes description and post it under the photo for the customer. back at the office.
Nice...lol
Iv seen lots of people on here new confused with the TLAs sounds confusing but eazy once you heard it a few times.
