Isn't Dan the dude spending half his day in the gym? 3000 for maintenance might be his real number out of the sheer volume of shenanigans he's up to. My fat stays exactly where it is at 3000-3500.

As for macros, I do find a lot of people do well with carbs daily. I prefer fatty meats (I definitely eat more fat than I intend to), so I cut carbs, in part, to keep the calories down. If I'm having more than 150g/day, it's probably because I'm eating a pizza with half a case of beer, which happens like twice a month. And my god does my body let everyone know it if I've eaten anything besides animal products in the day.

All the same, there's no reason not to hit at least 40% protein, if not more, in a day. No problem with playing with carbs and fat to find your magic numbers, but you shouldn't budge on the high protein.

As far as ITHURTZ making anyone unhappy... take what any of us say with a grain of salt, and get up to your own research/testing. He's been moving weights longer than most of us, so I'm glad to have his opinions, even when I disagree with them. Different vantage points prove there's more than one way to skin this cat.

Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.

Ya me slow or the internet can only give you "options". Some people respond better with heavy weights less reps, others opposite. Some peoples bodies eat up carbs, others nothing. Some people bloat like hell on creatine, others, like myself, dont respond. Can I, or anyone else point you in the right direction? Of course. But only YOU can reach the finish line.

Dont mind my personality Iv heard everything in the book from over 10 years of lifting, every excuse, lie, misinformation, he said this, they said that, I do this, your wrong im right etc etc. Some things I have a short fuse on certain things. In the end Im still at the gym, the others are not and thats all that matters!

Im in the gym every single day of my life.

Even with being a full time student at college with 15 credits + working 25 hours a week at work, i will still find time for the gym as much as i can.

There is never a day i just sit on my ass and not doing anything physically.

I really do appreciate the info and help i get from you and SlowNa. I take everything into consideration and i also research quite a lot. Ive never been on a true diet before, im still a rookie when it comes to counting calories/carbs and doing a 40/40/20 diet or some sort. Im have very little knowledge when it comes to this so bare with me.

Do i know how to lift weights? absolutely. But when we start getting into a "diet" on top of this, thats where i struggle and come to the internet and you two for advice. But the best advice ive got from you (ITHURTZ) was what you just said, you need to try it yourself to figure out how your body reacts to certains things.

But all i can say, im committed to the gym and im there every day. Whether im in the mood or not.

I swear I heard from somewhere that the fried food causes Acrylic acid in the stomach and intestines which coats the linings
Didn't mean to miss-inform never-the-less Fast food and fried food are bad and should not be ingested. Even more so for those wanting to lose weight.

My diet everyday was 1,000 calories or less sometimes hitting around 800 calories.

That is a way harder cut than most people can commit to, especially considering you jogged every night, which is something like -100 Calories/mile. Props, that's hard.

In fact, I think it's so hard that I'd rather walk for half an hour twice a day and just picked out a cheap 60lb weight vest to help me do it, rather than eat less. Frankly, I can use the conditioning/mobility, because I'm mostly at a couch or desk when I'm not at the gym or under the car, and it's something to do when I wake up and am not quite hungry yet, instead of watching TV. Call it shenanigans if you must, but I've done running, jumping, and pullups in a borrowed 20lb vest before and it cooked the heck out of me. I can always remove some weight and use it to make tougher runs if I hate all 60lbs. Heck, Jaime Lewis stands up in his 80lb vest while he plays Xbox and claims it helps him get leaner with NEAT. If nothing else, it'll be an interesting experiment.

Dan, as far as figuring out your macros is concerned, I suggest use myfitnesspal for a week or two. It takes a lot of the busy work out of the calculations.

Im going to give MyFitnessPal a try.

But since i also weight lift.. obviously.

Is alright if i go over my "recommended" amount of protein for the day?

On calories/carbs/fats ive taken it right below what the website says i should, which is good. But the only bad thing is ive taken in quite a bit more protein than what it states i should.

    According to the website.

I can take in 2130 calories but i gained an extra 484 calories due to exercise which = 2614 total calories i can eat today. I can also consume 359g of carbs, 87g of fat and 98g of protein.

Today i took in 2,420 calories, 340g of carbs, 92g of fat (5g over the recommend amount ) and 155g of protein which is 57g extra than what im "suppose" to eat today. LOL

It's encouraged. Your body's got plenty of use for protein. Whatever it doesn't use, you poop. It won't hurt you any. I'd shoot for at least 200g.

I started 3 years ago, went for about 9 months straight.

Broke my neck my senior year in football, so i sat on my ass for months.

Finally started back up last New Years Day. Been going 6 days a week ever since. (Or as much as my schedule allows).

Plus I'm following an ab routine, this one: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/hugo26.htm

Im on week 4 at the moment for the abs routine.

Plus at least 30 minutes of cardio at the end of each day/workout. (just started that this week)

Doing just a push/pull routine right now, since I tweaked my knee doing something... I can still squat and tug, but it's clear that I'm not letting it heal when I do. It feels so weird leaving the gym and only being sore in like 1/3 of my body.

The nice thing, though, is over the course of 200 reps of something, I get a nice opportunity to analyze it - I threw quarters on the bar and strict pressed, changing my grip every 10 reps... turns out my grip's been too narrow, which might be a part of why it aggravates my elbow tendonitis. Way more activation in the shoulders now. The more you know.

With any luck, both my presses should improve, as well as my deadlift from all this rowing... upper back's definitely been the weak link lately.

You know, back when I didn't know anything about lifting, I did the movement ADD thing... It kept me from being a super-fat slob, but I regret not starting my current situation sooner. I think the gym ADD - you know, 3 sets of 10 of anything within reach - is a phase a lot of us have to go through. Now I'm feeling exotic if I do four movements over the 90 minutes I'm at the gym. Last one was pendlay rows, overhead presses, db rows, and hammer curls... made me feel like a busy bee, since I almost never leave the squat rack anymore.

When I was younger, I would have done something like 1/2 mile run, lat pull-downs, db bench, db rows, db shoulder press, preacher curls, db tricep extension, db flys, db shrugs, crunches, leg raises, 1/2 mile run. All at low weights and low volume. It was better than sitting on the couch while eating ice cream and I wasn't as weak as the guys that did, but all those years where my body never actually improved, and I was using the same weight year-after-year seem so completely wasted. Had I started then what I do now, I might be a competitive strength athlete by now.

Part of that is figuring out your goals, ideals, and even role models are... we got into that a while back with Kolton. I figured out which one of the following I want to look like. One is a weak, scrawny douchebag that touts P90X. The other one is the Gatekeeper of Olympus. I hope you can figure out who is who.
