Thanks
I wanna put in a HUD but my dash shakes too much when I turn up the bass, lol
is there a way to make the hud, switch, and dic all run off its own system, like with a separate switch to turn on power, and have it fused running off the battery directly
simon
Not sure but why would you want to do that anyway?

because i have a project in mind and would like to know if i can use it

Simon, I was the one who put the wiring instructions together that were posted here...They were initially posted on ClubGP and OQCGP.com...
You can make the HUD and DIC come on by using a switched 12v power source to the DIC at pin B9 (ign 1 voltage) and at the HUD at the switch on pin A (acc power). Your DIC will come on when you put the car in ACC if you don't also put a switch on pin A2 if that matters for your case. I would just use an "add-a-circuit" and run power off the fuse block to a switch mounted somewhere. Don't switch the constant Batt + wire for the DIC (A1) or you will lose all data every time you turn off the switch.
kinda curious about how hard it would be to convert a 97 monte carlo to gp hud
This is the same write up but it has a photo on how to cut the dash.

OK I have a 2001 GP GT and it has a DIC in it but it's just the picture of the car for the door lights etc.. I want to change it to the DIC with the MPG, oil life all that good stuff do I need to splice any wiring for this or is it just a swap? I did read the first few pages but I just want to make sure before I spend cash on it if it's not going to work! And my father had a 2003 GTP and I didn't find the HUD to be worth the money or time to drop it in a GT it's actually kind of annoying IMO. Thanks![]()
I haven't done mine yet, but here's what I know
For your '01 you need the DIC from a '99-'03('97 & '98 are different).
If you have the coupe there are 16 wires(18 for the sedan) that have to spliced.
Most are analog harness to digital harness.
One wire has to be spliced to the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) on the back of the speedometer.
And one wire spliced to the DLC(Data Link Control/Diagnostic Plug).
Were in SI do you live?
I lived on Amsterdam Ave, off Victory Blvd & Richmond Ave.
