You don't have to remove the balance shaft, you DO have to remove the balance shaft gear.
You can leave the balance shaft in place, or remove it, but then you will have to block the oiling holes.

Will removing the gear do anything?
It'll give you enough clearance to get the double roller in there.
^
Removing the gear will allow clearance for the double roller, and it will keep the balance shaft from spinning.
The balance shaft is designed to counter engine vibration at idle.
okay, I just wanted to make sure that pulling the cure of wasn't gonna do anything damaging. It doesn't matter if I just leave the shaft in there?
Nope, no damage. Much easier than having to pull it then try and block the oil passages.
Alright everyone, here's my updated list for my project. Got about a month before I start on her and I'm just getting your opinions again.
Tog headers
3.4 pulley
60lbs injectors (going e85)
130 springs
Double roller
Should I still stay with stock push rods and lifters? And s friend said I should go sx1 not xp. Is there a huge difference between the two cams?
There is not a big difference between the two cams. I consider them interchangeable.
Why the 130# springs?
Got a good deal on them and a few people said I might as well run them since I have the double roller.
Only have one question left. What plugs should I run?
