Heres what my honda turned up

    Dry test - 155 180 185 180
    Wet test - 200 240 240 235

155 compression seems pretty good still honestly, and the jumps from dry to wet test were consistant so im leaning towards rings being alright.

    Any other thoughts?

the dry reading don't seem low but the compression jumped up quite a bit for the wet test. How much oil did you add?
17%lower is probably right on the edge of allowable.
maybe a cylinder leakdown test would be in order.

    were you having any issues?

Honda and the DOHC head design on the vtec models if not maintained with proper valve lash adjustments they will burn valves. If the previous owner was out beating on it and lost the timing belt = valve train to piston damage. All of the honda vtec models are interference design. But as said it is normal to a point for these to burn oil, The valve guides, valve seals leak after time due to higher revs.

turn the head over, fill the back of the valves will fluid. let it sit for 4hours or even overnight. if any seeps past the valve and valve seat there is your leak. exhaust valves are typically the ones that burn.

if oil was leaking into the combustion cambers being sucked through the valve stem guides the spark plugs electrodes will have a build up....what did the plugs look like?
