Thread: Having problems, please help

I'm new here but I'm having some issues with my 2002 Grand Prix SE. I replaced the ignition switch due to the blower only working on setting 5. That solved the blower problem but now I have 2 other problems the first is that the car will start but then will turn of after about 5 seconds. Right after I finished I drove around with no issues so I parked it last night and this morning I went to troubleshoot the second issue and it kept turning off. Now to the second issue, its with the turn signals. One thing that I have noticed was the the hazard lights switch was not working properly it would get stuck but the turn signals were working with no problems until I changed out the ignition switch. I appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Update:
I am not seeing a security light so I don't think it has to do with the passkey system and I hooked up a code reader and am not getting any codes.

Considering your 2002 has the old fashion cable connected to the throttle body, I’d have to go with no.

That’s said, not cleaning the throttle body (TB) will eventual cause problems. Many people have beat their heads against the wall replacing items only to eventually discover is was simply a dirty TB. It’s a five minute easy to do maintenance item that needs to be done regardless, so why not just do it.

And if cleaning your TB doesn’t fix your problem, I’d look at the MAF sensor next.

Yes, if PASSKEY is shutting down your car, the “security” warning should light up.
