To start with, I forgot my camera at home so no pics, sorry.

I had everything I should have needed removed, the brakes, the axle nut, and the hub bolts but I put a puller on the hub and it will not seperate from the axle shaft. I stripped the threads right out of a 2-ton gear puller.

I've done these on my truck before and all they required was a little smack with the hammer to let the axle slide right out.

Anything I'm doing wrong or was the puller just a piece of ****?

if am not mistaken, there are three bolts holding the hub to the spindle. did you remove all three? if all else fail, unbolt the strut from the spindle, pry down on the lower control arm enough that you can pull the cv shaft out of the hub. then hammer the hub out from the inside off the spindle. if the shaft is alittle stubborn, place the axle nut back on flush with the tip of the threads. this would help protect the threads and also creates a bigger HITTING surface. use a rubber mallet and hit away at the axle. dont forget to lube the hell out of it first!

The halfshaft splines are rusted to the bearing I've had that happen so often. Use a center punch bit and an air hammer works like a charm. If that doesn't work they make a thing called freeze off (works very good). I ALWAYS antiseize the splines and not the threads for reassembly. GOOD LUCK

BTW DO NOT DO WHAT FOURSIXER JUST SAID!! The threads on the half shaft are weak and will get smashed or strip out the nuts.

you should be wacking at the center point!!!!!!!! putting back the axle nut and screwing it down just below the base of the center point. this just helps from damaging the threads if youre not good with the hammer.

Even if you're good with a hammer you can damage the threads. Then you're shelling out money for either a rethreading kit or a new half shaft. It is a bad practice and a center punch or even smarter a hub puller is your best route. See the little hole in the center of the half shaft is there for a reason.
