Automatic lights rockThat was one of the reasons i sold my SuperDuty; no auto lights. That, and it was a Ford.
What would be the purpose of wanting to disable them?
The Daytime Running Lights would be on anyway.
Thats one of the reasons that i keep coming back to my pontiacs. I love the fact that i dont ever have to worry about turning my lights on. I do however understand why some people would like to turn them off. When i had my mustang it was fun to drive around with only parking lights and fog lights on. It kinda made the car look meaner at night IMO.
I own a Ford truck and it rides like a 1-ton truck should and I love it. I also realize I'm on a GM forum. The only problems I've had with my truck (which has 210,000 miles on it) is what you'd expect from a vehicle with that many miles on it. So hop off your tuffet little miss Muffet, I'm sure your car hasn't ever been in the shop, neither has anyones on here....
it is a diesel, it should go that long without major repairs. And as a superduty it should be beefed up. I am glad you have not had any major issues with it. I would expect the same from any manufacturer. I am just not a ford fan. I am sure I am not the only one on here. In my opinion, the powerstrokes suck when compared to the Cummins or the Duramax.
year car?
there is a fuse in the fuse box in the glove compartment in my '99...it controls ur daytime running lights as well as automatic lights so pull it if u dnt want either...if u want just the automatic lights and to disable the daytime running lights simply unplug the wire that goes into the metal box...it can be viewed thru the compartment on the drivers side of the dashboard that get covered by the door
To diable DRLs pop the dash cover on the sidde of the drivers side compartment. Unplug the wires from the big heat sink and you will have no DRLS,
For the auto lights pop the cover on the dash that has the hole and small light sticking out of it. Twist the assembly on the right to get access to the light sensor. Take the sensor out and out in a 470 ohm 5% resistor (found at radio shack) and yoiu will have NO auto lights.
anyone ever heard of the search feature? This topic and the DRL's have been brought up about 90,845,424,328,459,745,721,375 times. That is a lot in my opinion...
if you play with the switch that controls your lights and put it between the second and third setting, you can turn off your headlights, the corners will still work and you can ride around with only fog lights if you want too also. The control is the one left of the steering wheel, near the one that controls the dim setting. you can also ride around with just corners too if you wanted too.![]()
Thanks for all the tips here. I was just discussing how much I despise automatic lights last night and again today, trying to figure out how to disable them.
thats exactly what i do man.. works great and you dont have to take out anything.. i just took out the drl's and great.. specially when you have angel eyes and just wanna run the fog lights and the angel eyes.. like me.. i'll be posting up some pics when i get my cam back..
