Ah, check through the things I did beforehand just in case. Those are usually the easiest and cheapest things firsthand. I will say going through and replacing all the things I did improved the car overall anyways, regardless of its actual affect on the real problem.
Anywhoo, got the ZZP ICM on thursday; Fairly fast shipping considering the customs fees and import blah blah (which really hit the wallet hard btw). Took me a few days to get to putting it on because I first didn't have a socket small enough to undo the 6 bolts (6mm) and THEN I needed an extension for the new wrench I bought because it was too big to reach the 3 bolts on the right side of the coils.
Other than that it installed in a breeze in 5 minutes and started up pretty strong. Left the battery unhooked for a day before going out for a "spirited" drive and so far everything's pretty swell. I'll have to take it around for a bit longer though before I come to a real conclusion since the issue comes and goes depending on random factors. I will say it shifts like butter going down city streets and cruise controls up hills better than ever. Cold/Warm starts sound exactly the same and right on the money the few times I did it. The old ICM also looked a bit....burnt to say the least. The whole area under there was pretty dirty despite how tight the coils are pressed down onto it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was at least a little bit messed up somehow.
Dustinss, if you can grab one cheap enough, new or used, I'd recommend throwing one on if you feel like gambling. If anything just to replace something that's probably gonna burn out eventually anyway. As long as you check out some of the easier stuff first of course.
