Finished up the valve covers that I started a weekend or 2 ago. Soaked them in Dawn and water and then scrubbed them with Comet. New gaskets and grommets all around. Installed injectors I picked up from ItHurtz back in April. Had a hell of a time with the idler pulley. First the washer lip that's on the nut wouldn't fit in the hole. Had to file it down a smidge. Then, couldn't get a socket in there to tighten it. Had to file down the side walls this time, of that same nut, to fit a 9/16 inside. The circumference of that hole was too small. It was the right part, off Amazon. Just a half mm off on the calibration. Anyway, runs great, no more leaks. The TransGo shift kit feels good too. Took 2 gallons and a bottle of Lucas to refill the trans.

13 mm 12 point socket fits the tensioner nut. or you need a thin walled socket.
I think it was a 15mm on mine. Couldn't get it out though because none of 15mm I had fit. I had 3 different 15mm sockets and neither fit. I was confused as to how I even got the original tensioner assembly off. I couldn't remember how I did it. I had to file off half a hair of a mm to get the nut to fit, but still. Rack and pinion is next. See'ing them on ebay for like $240.00'ish
Loaded the GTP down with old tools and stuff, mostly sentimental items. My folks are gonna move and wanted to lighten the load. Got a 32 Ford horn I'll probably be rebuilding. It could go in the 69 GP, it was in my first Pontiac when I was 15. In one of the bolt cans theres a hop-up part for a 3/4 horse Briggs that takes it to at least a horse according to Dad. Some of the stuff in there is as old as 1930s also.
Good one spazz

I zip-tied it back on because it was originally a quick and dirty fix, but the ****ty steel band broke on the way over here. I'll be getting another axle soonish, but until then ZIP-TIES FTMFW!
