The M90s that have a breather nut have a vented snout shaft and with the breather, will not allow anything but heat vapors to pass through it.
Replacing the breather nut with a plastic "plug" also referred to as the "plastic Christmas tree thing" by many will allow much more than heat vapors out most the time.
The M90s that have a plastic plug originally have NO vented snout shaft, and a breather nut is not required.
All the difference between the snout shafts is one less hole drilled through them from the outside, through the center all the way to the other side. The main hole down the middle, meet this hole, and wha-la, you have a vent from the inside to the out side.
WHY?
Take a snout fill/drain plug out on a hot or warm car with a vented plug, and nothing happens.
Take a snout fill/drain plug out on a hot or warm car with plastic plug, and you will get some pressure blowing out at you as you open the plug up.
The vent does not help or hurt anything in the long run. It was part of the original design as a way to "cool" the M90 fluid even more to keep them running as cool as possible. Taking the hole away, had no change what so ever with it running cool or not so they didn't add it in later models.
Only thing noticeable was the pressure build up, which isnt anything bad...just don't open the plug till everything cools down.
My suggestion to everyone is if your M90 came equipped with a breather nut, keep on reusing it. If your M90 came with a plastic plug, you can use that, or a breather nut.
I imagine that the vendors who sell a MPS include the plug for those who have them originally, as sometimes they will break when you try to remove them. The plug is there to keep the threads clean...thats all. The breather serves a purpose.

yup and now i have a supercharger without a pulley.
so since i am not the first to do this, what is the best fix? New snout?
id stick a easy out or extractor or left handed drill bit in there and get the busted part out.
if its close to flush you can try a pick or a chisel and hammer with light taps to push it around to un thread it.
Got some higher quality left hand bits and easy outs from the tool room at work. Came out with no problems. Threads look pretty bad so i am going to get a M8 tap to clean up the shafts threads. Then hopefully the pulley will press on without much issues.
