Getting down and dirty slapping the shift kit into my tranny. Took everything out and noticed the casing for the accumulator has a hairline crack on it! Kinda lost as far as what to do at this point. Do we out it back in and hope for the best or.......?

Put it back together and start saving for a new trans.

How about, put full coverage then slam it into a wall? Jk! Put it back together, filled her up, went for a spin. At first it slipped, but no more hard shifting, is this normal? Runs fine after driving for a few miles

That is called the accumulator housing. Take a picture please. If you need one, these are very easy to get ahold of. All 4T65E transmissions had the same one. So either a junkyard, a members (I might have one...) they are very common. And this could cause you all kinds of odd behavior ........Like you've been having.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

As always, thank you so much BillBoost37! Sry,, no pic, was covered in tranny fluid and didnt want to get.it on my phone too! I found a guy here who is replacing his Trans on his impala and will.sell me his old one for $40.00. Still works just shifts hard and funny, idk, thats just what he told me. Is it normal for the Trans to slip when going on the first test ride?

If it's not full of fluid then yes. Check it again while the trans is full hot at idle and see what the level is. If low, then top it off.

Has is slipped since then? If not then it may have just been filling up the rest of the way.

It has, but I think it is just doing it because of the accumulator housing. It is fine when first starting(cold), and once the fluid thins out a bit because of the temp going up it starts to slip again, and then once the temp gets up to normal operating temp, it runs fine. I think at this point, the metal expands and seals the crack. Just an assumption though.

Turns out the guy with the trans is lagging, and has to still pull it out of his car( and in no hurry) so I was wondering if by chance you happened to have one? Please let me know and how much, thanks so much!
