I picked up my car today......waited exactly 1.5 weeks for it to be fully rebuilt and installed. I drove it home about fifteen minutes and noticed right away.......no noise very quiet riding. So it seems justifiable that the previous noise was coming from in the trans. One thing I did notice is first gear shift is sluggish but it might be because everything is new and needs to be broken in. I have to drive it awhile before I say anything to the rebuilder. Other than that it shifts fine and the installed shift kit make the shift firm and crisp.
Well keep in mind they probably unplugged the battery or otherwise reset the PCM during the rebuild, so your trans adapt shift is still adjust line pressure based on how you drive. Give it some time.
But I am confused... you said 1-2 is sluggish, yet you say the shift kit made things firm and crisp?
Apparently factory spec for 1 is pretty loose resulting in a long 1-2 shift.
it can take up to 3 days for your trans to relearn how you drive, it happens every time i take my battery off for a length of time.
just drive it nice, you will feel it when its got its act back together.
This new trans is plagued by the damn EPC solenoid shift problem when hot. The rebuilder said he never changed the EPC....wtf kind of builder is he......this issue is the number one problem of the 4T65E and he never changed it......Now he blames that my original solenoid is bad and wants to charge me to do an EPC even though I have a two year parts&labor unlimited mileage warranty.....again wtf....correct me if I'm wrong isnt the warranty cover the entire rebuild...?? Also if the rebuilder was stupid enough to not replace the number one defect of these transmissions why do I have to pay for his stupidity and bad judgement on how he built it..??....Hello BBB...!!!

i would walk in there and demand satisfaction or threaten to sue him for not backing up his warranty, and call the bbb.
if he tells you to go f your self, go right to the court house and file a claim, its 25 bucks to do so, no lawyer needed. that notice he will get in the mail of being sued is usually more than enough in most case to fix your problem. these assholes like to play hard ball, play right back at them.
if your receipt says rebuild trans, you got him.
Yes.....Everything mentioned (besides the wtf...)above was mentioned to the shop that put it in.......We arranged so they will have the car for a day to verify the problem. One of their guys already test drove it and experienced the 1-2 shudder and long shifts...they just have to work it out with their rebuilder........
This sounds like it's either a mechanic that sends transmissions out to have them rebuilt (like a buddy of mine when people ask for him to rebuild their transmissions) or a trans shop that does swaps and buys the transmissions rebuilt. This has become pretty common these days.
I'm sure you're aware that the force motor can be changed without removing the transmission. This is not a big deal IMO.
I am quite aware of the in-car procedure and wanted it done on the car although their mechanic does no trans work.
The shop refused to do it on the car and say that they do not do any trans work there. They have to take out the whole trans and bring to the rebuilder. So a 2-4 hour job turns into a one week or more project even though its my only car and cant afford to go without it for that long......![]()
They're mechanic is not a mechanic if he/she can't perform this. It must be some liability thing. Get an estimate at another shop and for the in-car repair and have them reimburse you. Even I could do this in under 4 hours.
So the story goes on......brought the car in they had it for a almost two days....the rebuilder came out and now says he already put an updated(4T45E) EPC in when he built it and that there is no evidence of 1-2 shudder. Which in essence there is nothing wrong with my trans......total B.S. IMHO..... So I take the car back thinking they unstuck the valve body cause its not shuddering after driving it in their big parking lot of the industrial park. Well I drove it all day today and it acted up about a dozen times shudder, delayed shifting, and all. I called the installers and left a VM never called me back. Now I am ready to stop my credit card payment with reason of bad customer service & not honoring a warranty.....Let the music play.........cause now I had enough of this song & dance their doing.....![]()
I've threatened to set my truck on fire and drive it through the front window of a few shops lol dealership pissed me off all the time. you and the service manager should not be on a first name basis.
that's some real douche bag bull sh*t right there!
You are aware that the problem may not be the transmission. I wouldn't jump to conclusions.
How would you feel if you caught your car on fire, drove it through the front window and then discovered it just a flaky MAP sensor?
rico the problem lies in the fact that the shop says they dont feel a problem, and it must have one or he wouldn't be complaining about it.
that tells me, hes being blown off, aka f'ed over, especially since the trans rebuild was outsourced.
maf or what ever, they should be doing what ever is in their power to resolve his issues at this point. that's what a warranty is for...
and of course setting your car on fire is sarcasm at the highest level. thats last resort type stuff.
We've all been there and not only with automotive stuff. I'm just trying to keep the sanity here. Yea, I would like to take a ball-peen to the builders head myself. LOL
What would be really great is for this guy to fix it himself and pay a visit to the builder to let him know how much an idiot he is. This feels much better than monetary satisfaction IMO.
