I'm curious to know these details for those that had or did not have their fog light lenses melt after installing HID's.
1. What was the brand/manufacturer HID Kit?
2. Were they 35w or 55w?
3. What color temperature did you use?

i got mine from vvme 35w 10k had them since april and havent had any problems at all besides the stupid high beam light comes on..but havent had any prolbems with the lights or the housings
I have 35w 6000k Xentec HIDs in my fogs, have had them in for several months, and been on long trips with them on... nothing happened.
Mine melted with yellow bulbs in them lol
I melted 4 sets of stock fogs with a 35watt 6000k kit before i said screw this and bought glass housings.
I bought DDM's. My first set lasted 6 months, second and third set 4 months, and the last set a year before i switched them out. I've had my HID's for about 3 years.
I've had ddm 5000k fogs for over a year no melting of housings. You need to use a rubber spacer/grommet to space them back from the lense. That's what I did and it obviously works or has helped. Also don't leave them on if you're not moving for long period of times imo.
Did anyone drill a little hole in the botton of the lens? Someone told me to do that to prevent the housings from melting, but Im wondering if some water would get in there and bust the bulb.

I have a hole drilled in each corner light on the bottom, like a 7/62nd hole.
No water has gotten in them ever.
It should be the same for the headlights.
Ddm tuning, 6000k, 35w.. No melting, going on a year and a half now.
now that I re-read your right thats not exactly what he is asking.
But anyways, drilling a hole to prevent the melting of the lense wont do anything.
No holes, never melted, 5000k Zentec Ebay Bulbs, had in for about 6 months no problem
sadly i cant say that lol, on my 40th i had 8k 35w through HID Lights HID Kits Xenon Headlights Kit HID Headlight Kits HID Conversion Light and i put them in turn them on went inside to piss came out and my passenger side was smoking..melted the bulb to the housing nearly started my car on fire bumber was just starting to melt..pry pissed. needless to say they bought me new fog light and replaced the hids and ballast and i have those ones just sittin at home now..got an 04 now so cant use them
