Synthetics now, clean engine later
use junk chepo oil for the startup, then switch later on once its "rebroken in" and isnt a one start kaboom.
Huhs?
I've started one.. driven 5 miles and had it knockin.. One out of say 100+ engines. It's not super common to get a bad one. Can happen though.
I m really hoping this doesnt happen.
I bought a new radiator and so im taking a bit of a detour with installing that one. As for flushing the heater core do i just stick a hose in the hole till it runs clear? Im not exactly sure which hose leads to the core but im assuming its closer to the windshield side?
^^^ they both go thru it. Do it both ways

So just stick a water hose where the top radiator hose goes i to amd flush away?
Scotty has a great write up on how to flush somewhere on the forum. But to get the heater core directly flush the 2 heater hoses off the back of the tensioner bracket that the alternator bolts to.

Put the new radiator in check out the disgusting sludge in my old one. This substance lines the interior of the heater core hoses. I really doubt water well remove the thicker material collected inside the core. I've tried before many times even used the store flushes and look.... I'd hate to have bought a new rad/hoses/pump only to have that filthy heater core slowly contaminate the system again.

I was looking at the heater core replacement thread on this site, is there anyway to access those pics? I think this is the only way to make sure my entire coolant system starts of at 100% right? I know its a ton of work but im sure its sludged just like my rad. Would you guys replace given the circumstances?

id not change the heater core. the engine swap is less work lol but really, its a pita to change, not worth doing unless its leaking.
id flush the piss out of it and call it good.
Even if it has the sludge that was in my rad? I flushed the eff out of my radiator too and the nasty diarrhea sludge never came out, its heavy and just seems to settle in the bottom, i have my old rad upside down right now and the sludge just keeps running out, i really wonder what those flushes did..is there anyway i could stick wire brush/bore cleaner into the core kinda like cleaning a rifle barrel. would this work?
Use a brass sweeper nozzle to get some force nothing the flush.
