Anybody can afford slicks, anybody can afford to put race gas in there car (if they can mod the thing), anybody can gut there interior... I don't see you point.

As for you can't completely simulate whats at the track, thats true to a point. Are you saying a gutted, slicked, race gas GP ain't going to be faster than when your driving that same car on the street w/ full interior, pump gas, street tires? Surely not. As for road surfaces, they can vary anywhere on the street too as for the track. I used to go street racing years ago with buddies, all roads are different. Also slicks will stick on the street too if heated up. Granted the VHT will help a little, not a whole hell of a lot though. IMO some people go to the track with there street cars and go a little overboard. I mean, gutting your car? Come on.

I've always respected the guys who could run fast times with there cars in true street trim. Even if later on they bolted up just a pair of slicks, there man enough to show what there cars have in them as is. The guys I used to run around with rolled there cars like this, IMO they got the most respect. I think its silly to spend 2 hours track prepping you car all crazy like some to get a time... when in reality when there car is back to were it was it would never run that time. Then they brag there car is XX car and think they can outrun everyone in the parking lot. I think thats funny personally. I donno, I guess its just the way i was brought up. That my opinion though, to each there own I guess.
