Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
nice write up and holy hell someone that can rebuild an alt! lol you mean you must be able to know how to use a multi-meter too geezus!! mind blown haha
did basically the same thing wayyy back in the day to stuff a 180 amp stator in a 95gtp for car audio setup. the 95gtp with the dohc the alt is down by the cv shaft and a whore to get out so stuffing something bigger in would be a pain in the ass! so that makes this the next best option and id choose this method all day vs trying to retro fit a different alt to fit also.
Nice setup!!
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Thanks! I've been using a DVM for longer than I can remember. I remember having problems saying "Continuity" when I was a kid so I called it the beep setting, lol. My dad had me stripping printers and assembling computers around age 5, so this type of stuff is my home away from home, lol.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Alternator is in and works GREAT! I also put in the ZZP poly dogbone mounts in, tomorrow the Addco rear sway goes in and hopefully the 3.6 pulley goes on. Friday Vogtland's go on and Saturday she gets aligned. Oh yea, I got an e-mail that TRS has shipped my projectors, so they'll be coming probably early next week. Pics!
New Alternator:

In case anyone was curious, this is the grinding you have to do to make the CS144 clear the Gen V:

Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Nice work on the alternator!! Funny you mentioned how much better the car rides and responds now with the control arm bushings, mine go on next weekend. I just ordered the Addco bar last night along with a BMR rear strut tower brace so I'll be waiting on them to arrive too. I cant wait to drive mine and see how much tighter the whole car will feel with the complete BMR lateral & trailing arms, rear strut tower brace, Addco bar and new front lower control arms with all the Moog items.

Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
I can see it, mine is the sexy one. lol. Where do they come from anyways? I'm curious to see if I might get them by Friday...then I know what I'm doing this weekend. Finally got to drive the car (to work) with the poly mounts and I feel a HUGE difference in response, who woulda though 240K mounts needed to be replaced? I swear I hear a hum while driving from under the hood, but I don't hear it with the hood up, so I figure it's just the mounts or something.

Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Just for that, they'll get delayed lmao

Probably, UPS only shows the label being created, so I hope it actually shipped out today.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
From several past purchases they're usually very quick to get it shipped out unless it's a backstock issue

Maybe I missed it but what all did you order

Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
The Morimoto H1 kit with a 70mm halo, the glue, and 5500k bulbs. The bulbs were backordered until today, I ordered everything last week.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
You doing your own retro?
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Yep.
Bad news, lights still dim. I think it's something with my gain structure, because when I turn the sub amp down it goes away and if I barely turn it up and they start dimming a bit. I'll investigate more later...
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
3.6 is on, I get around 4* of KR at partial throttle, so I picked up some 104s to install tomorrow morning. I'll see if I can't pick up a 180* tstat as well. It does pull a lot harder, so that's nice.
Still no info on my projectors. It's just showing the label as being created and nothing else. BOOOOOOOO.
Edit: They finally updated, and shipped this morning. So they'll be here Monday. It figures with the way my last few days have gone, lol. We'll be really freakin cold all week so I guess I'll have plenty of time to build them. Vogtlands did get here though, so those along with the tie rods will go in on Saturday, alignment on Monday.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
I have a 180* Tstat coming in the morning to the parts store and I picked up the 104s on the way to work. Those and the Addco sway (I mean it this time!) is going in tomorrow before work. The Vogtlands came in today as well, those and the new tie rods are going in Saturday, and an alignment is Monday. Retros get here Monday, I'll give myself all week to get those done (with working) , then next weekend I'll rip the side skirts off to see the rust. My original buddy flaked out, and I've got another buddy to help me for there...he's probably a LOT better anyways..we'll see. Anyways, Vogtlands!!!

Guy at parts store messed up and T stat wont be here til tomorrow, oh well.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Installing the Addco sway bar is a *****. I spent the first half hour installing it upside down, so that was my fault. Then the endlink shafts wouldn't fit through the holes on the sway bar. I had to ream them out just to make the somewhat fit. With the sway bar in the car this was kind of a pain. All I have left to do is put the retaining clips on and grease my squeaky trailing arms. Here's some comparison of the 3 different sway bars I've had...stock on top, GMPP in the middle, Addco on the bottom:

Addco on the left, GMPP in the middle, stock on the right:

AA battery for reference, first stock, then GMPP, then Addco:

Done and done. I'll clean everything up a bit better tomorrow when the struts come out for the springs.
