Lowered=less drag on the highway 👍 win lol
Believe it or not the most expensive thing...this year (Retros) was the easiest to get approved. "Hey babe, you know how our headlights suck?" "Yea" "I can fix that, but it won't be cheap and it'll end up brighter than the truck, but it'll be expensive" "Sure babe, if you think it'll make night driving better, go for it"
$430 later...lol
Got an e-mail from rockauto, everything except one of the mounts will be here Friday, as long as FedEx doesn't go full retard like they have a habit of doing. Should be a fun weekend.
Keep those stock lights in the trunk for your trip to incase something happens with them.

Yep, that's the plan. I'm hoping to get the retros stuff in next week so I can build them over the weekend\during the week, so I can test them for a few weeks before the trip. I haven't even begun to look at the rust on the car yet, oh boy.
Wow shes easily convinced, my girlfriend *****es and moans when I had to spend money to fix the car. Retros were kinda, I bought them and told her after I got them lol
I've also been building her up to this stuff for 10 months, so it's not like I brought it up last week or anything, lol.
Ohh, that makes sense then.
Wow, so I just called Quick Start, which is an alternator parts website that I saw mentioned online with good reviews and such. They had a kit listed online to upgrade my CS144 to 200 amp, so I called to see what all was included, if I needed anything else, how hard the install was, etc. An older guy answered the phone, and he was one of the coolest old guys I've talked to in a LONG time. He was very thorough in his questions, wanted to know everything about my setup, everything. He told me all about how to install the kit, told me how it worked, told me what to look out for, and told me what they did to the kit for me. Then we got to talking some more and I figured something out pretty cool, lol. Nothing I'll ever use, but someone on here might.
If the alternator has a sensing wire (like the CS144), you can cut the sensing wire, install a resistor and run it to a switch in the cabin to boost your alternator on demand. You can even go a step further and hook it up to a potentiometer, so you can boost the voltage to what you want at the time (turn of a knob). Pretty cool, but I'll never use it, I don't like boosting voltage, I like boost amperage, lol.
Anyways, AWESOME company and AWESOME owner. He's like Dave from TEP but with alternators. He's going in my contacts for sure. Oh and $144 later I have a 200 amp stator and rectifier on the way! Off to track down Vogtlands...
Vogtlands on the way. Now Poly dogbones...
Oh I had a funny moment with the wife. Basically every tax season I've sunk 1-2k into the car, last year is was the rims\tires, hood, tinting exhaust, headers, stereo, GMPP rear sway, and a few other odds and ends. This year it's lowering, retros, Addco rear sway, the rest of the suspension that hasn't been replaced along the way, the RUST, and a few other odds and ends. This will basically be the end of the MAJOR projects on the car. I'll always have small projects here and there, it's my hobby. Anyways she asked "What are we going to do with taxes next year? We won't have to move, visit AZ, the car will be done, what else?"
...and without missing a beat, what did I say?
"turbo."
USPS and FedEx just came (according to the wife, I'm at work), and basically everything but one of the solid mounts came in from Rockauto. Literally everything else except the Retros (housings came from Rockauto today) comes on Monday, lol. I'll have pics of the parts and such when I get off work tonight!
Lol you guys need to grow some.... I just spent 1k on a clutch and other stuff for the 5 speed. You know what i told my girlfriend? Its my money, if you dont like it ill move out. Didnt hear another word about that one.
Girlfriend vs. wife, lol. I don't really get PERMISSION, I just run it by her since she's kind of an outside source looking in. Hell, if I had it my way, I'd buy everything I can for the car, lol. That, and at the end of the day keeping my wife\family happy is much more important to me than car parts.
First round of parts came in. Headlights, all the LCA hardware, tie rods, and the solid engine mount. Everything is nice and tight a purdy. I want my damn retros!!!!!

The mount passed the shake test, lol.
What. a. day. It started out rough, everything fought me coming apart. On top of that, my 1\2 inch torque wrench fell and hit me on my lower lip. My wife was supposed to be holding said torque wrench, so I'm telling everything she popped me in the lip with a wrench, lol. Then **** got bad. I stripped the old control arm down fine and all, the old vertical bushing was HORRIBLE. The rubber fell out. Then I discovered one of the new bushings was bad, and to get it replaced I had to go to Springfield. I had fought the new vertical bushing for about 3 hours at the point and made no progress. I decided to go for it and bought a small 6 ton press for $75 from Harbor Freight. Good god I wish I did that earlier, it makes the job 1000000000x easier. I'll have the driver side done in no time tomorrow. I'll have pics of everything tomorrow too, I was just pissed off at everything today so I didn't take any pictures.
You have a part number for the mount that passed the shake test off rock auto?
You do most will pass the shake test until you drill into it and realize its not solid after all

EM2796S for the engine and EM2712S for the transmission.
the dna mounts i got were not listed as solid, yet i could not feel or hear a damn thing when i shook it. but after a drill bit hit it sure did have fluid in there.
