2000 GTP: Still Alive! New Trans?

While I have Bill's attention, May as well get his input on the transmission issue. With my tune'd PCM (Reptile) I get a strange grinding noise out of the transmission when I am coming to a stop\slowing to go around curves\etc. Only for a split second, then it's gone. It almost sounds like have to metal things rubbing together in the transmission for about a half second. Here's the kicker though, I swap my PCM back out for the stock (ish, Scotty flashed Bill's Trans Tune to it and deleted the rear O2 code for me) and the noise is gone. On the flip side, when I am coasting with the stock PCM my RPM will random drop to 500, then come back up to 1,000. It's totally at random, and I have no idea what it could be on either PCM. You (or anyone else) have any input?

Nope.. no idea. I'm still thinking of how you are over engineering a heated seat just to put more relays in the car. lol

Can you think of another way that will turn them on without me needing to leave the switches on? I'm not trying to sound like a smart ass, I'm all ears. I'm going to try and get an audio recording of the transmission sound with the Reptile tune this weekend. He doesn't have any idea either.

Put a second heater core under the seat, screw wires must hoses! Its another opportunity to use blown glass coolant piping! Just kidding. Trying to think of a reptile crack also but meh. Hope the trans is fine. BTW if 04+ seats get a lot hotter than 97-03 you're gonna need firesuit pants.

I'd like to add heated seat to my car. Would it be worthwhile to try to grab the heater element out of a JY car?

ive already got the switch plate, and switch. Could probably get the pigtail too.

Boobs.. maybe I'm not fully understanding what you are trying to do. You want to turn on the defroster and the heated seat at the same time? Then you also want the ability to turn them off as well from the remote?

If you are doing that.. and you are going to feed the high setting.. then if you turned off the power enable to the module.. ... it would turn off. even if your switch is turned on.

Defroster will be it's own channel, won't have anything to do with the heated seat. I have the defrost thing figured out, no questions there, only 1 relay lol. On the heated seats, I want to be able to trigger high on both seats at the same time, regardless of the position of the switches. I would LIKE to have the 2 seats triggered independently, but with only 1 channel on the alarm I don't see an easy way to do it, so I can live with out that.

Yeah..if you only have one channel, that's not happening. Unless you combine another channel and that one to try and make a matrix. Why though? That's one of the reasons I was suggesting the switches. You could leave the one or both on if you wanted them both.

In the relay setup you first posted, the only other thing I'd add in is the relay for the high position is the resistor. Found this on a Monte forum
Measure the resistance through the heated seatswitch from the heated seatswitch signal circuit terminal to the heated seatswitch high/low signal circuit terminal in the heated seatrelay harness connector.
Operate the heated seatswitch in the HIGH and LOW positions.
Is the resistance at or near the specified values?
HIGH 310 ohms
LOW 200 ohm

I thought the older ones were more like 180 and 310 but maybe I'm remembering it wrong. Give your switch output a measure to find out the ohms and use that to create the correct output. With the diodes in your circuit that you posted, you'll be fine to split a power to each w/o them seeing each other when operated normally.

The main reason I'm avoiding leaving the switches on or off is this type of scenario:

I get off work at midnight\4:00AM. I have the hated seat on for a few, but I'm warmer blooded than my wife. I'd turn them off after a minute or two. The next morning, my wife wakes up and decides to go to the store\get breakfast\etc. She LOVES these heated seats, but she'd have to run out, break the ice off the car, turn the heated seat on, then come back inside, which would suck lol.

I know it's laziness at it's finest, but I have the option to do this, so why not? This way in the winter I'll have able to turn the 2 heated seats on, turn the defrost on, and turn the auto climate control on (heat).

I wired up the defroster and hardly ever used it. Remote start..sure thing. and then I'd usually fire up the rest once I was out there.

I see what you are going for and ... it'll likely become old quick turning them on/off that close together. Hopefully the button sequence isn't three levels down where my defroster was.

How about going with low instead of high? Then you could leave them on...they'd do a great job of taking the chill off and then she could crank it once she got in?

I would just leave them all turned on (minus the defroster) when I turned off the car the night before and just use a remote start feature, then optionally have the defroster on - off on the remote

She swears up and down that Low is hotter than High, I seem to remember reading something about how low\high doesn't work the same on the 04+ seats. I haven't really looked into it. When the time comes, I'll probably blind fold her and make her tell me which one she likes lol.

On the defroster, I was going to have the relay "push" the button on the HVAC head unit for me.

This is how I did the Auto button:

Finished product, I used an old PC molex power spliter to give myself a connection point so I can remove the HVAC head unit if needed. It still has 2 empty wires on the connector so I'll just use those for the defroster.

This way the HVAC head unit will still be in control of the defroster so if for whatever reason it needs to be turned off, the HVAC can do it for me.

Sweet... I was able to hit just one wire on my install. Didn't have to go in and hit it directly as the button was a momentary anyhow. Bummer it wasn't the same for you. Nice job on the pads though. I'd have done the same.

Dude I still have an older alarm that is 15 function and has I want to say 6 programable outputs and 3 fixed ones plus remote start. I don't think I'm going to use it and I even have a "brand new" harness for it. You need it. You want it you crave it...... Oh and it's a regular alarm too. It's old school.......

At times, lol. It just figured since it took me 2+ days to get this alarm all installed a year ago. That's why I said that, lol.
