Lol....thanks for the peace of mind.
I too TRIED to make a boom but there just isn't enough hydrogen being produced... Damn haha. Yeah just make sure you have some ventilation and you'll be fine
Rockers are here, I went with ERs since 1.9s will make the pushrods rub the head's casting on L32s. That, and they were only $100, lol.
Install should happen today or tomorrow, but everyone in the family is as sick as a dog, so it might not happen. Either way pics of the install will be up at some point, lol.
you get new springs too?
Not yet, but they'll be coming soon. From what I've read the 1.8s are okay on stock springs if I'm shifting under 6000 rpm. AFAIK I am shifting under 6k...Actually I haven't done a WOT run since the tune, so I'm not sure. You'd know, lol. I guess it also shows how much I drive the car hard.
Nice thing about all this is I don't have drain coolant\take the alternator bracket off. The 99 Camaro bracket doesn't hang over the valve cover at all so I have to take the alternator off, but that's it. That's why I don't care about tearing into it twice, the valve cover gaskets are under warranty also, so it'll be free to do (minus the cost of the springs and such of course).
jesus wire that jl to 1ohm or 2 ohms and get some better power instead of buying bigger amps lol
You can't, JL's are single voice coil. I only have the one sub too. As far as the sub amps, this is the first I bought, and $30 was a steal.
Went on a little drive to Nixa to hang out with some friends last night, had a good time and the drive was GREAT. I only pulled about 24 MPG, but Missouri road are very hilly and curvy, especially West HWY 14. First time I used the GPS on the head unit and it was perfect, the music faded out for every turn notification and everything. One cool thing is the GPS will tell me there is a sharp turn coming up, I thought that was awesome because the road are poorly marked around here to say the least. I got 1* of KR, but that was it, going up a steep hill, right before it downshifted, so I'm not worried. I haven't installed the rockers yet either.
It also worked out pretty good because another guy I used to work with showed up at my buddy's house who used to have a riced out Civic. I was able to finally pop the hood and show him what a real FWD car (if there is such a thing) was. He just kept saying "holy ****" at everything I told him I've done to the car. At the end of it all he said "Damn, I remember seeing this car and thinking it was nice, but not THIS nice" lol. It always makes my day when I hear stuff like that.
Oh and I got the go ahead from the wife to get some retros, Addco rear sway, and Vogtlands. If I don't find deals on them by tax time then I'll get them brand new. So I'm excited on that stuff. Rockers go in today, yesterday's projects took longer than expected (spreading 12 tractor buckets over my backyard).
those rockers should kill off that 1* of kr.
That's what I'm thinking too. I'll also be getting new injectors (stock size) next, then a pulley drop is on the list. I'm not sure what I could go with, a 3.5 or a 3.4. I have a Gen V, so it's like going between a 3.3 and 3.2 on a Gen 3. I don't know if the rockers will be enough to allow me to have a 3.4 or not...I've never really had bad KR on this engine, just a very few instances here and there.
3.5 or 3.6 would be best id think. unless you get a ic or go corn.
No corn around here, and ICs are too risky for my taste, so I'm thinking the 3.5 would be the way to go. 3.6 isn't enough for me lol. Between the SSACs, the tune (after the pulley and rust repair HPT is on the list), and the other few random things I've done I should be good. If I ever pull the engine again, I might put a cam in, but that's more of a pipe dream really.
Fronts are done. I had to buy a new torque wrench and I replaced the stupidly long stud for the coil bracket with a bolt, so I got to walk to the parts store. No biggie. Family tagged along. Taking a break now, then it's onto the rears!
It's been about 10,000 (and 5 oil changes) miles since the engine was put in, I'm happy with how clean it is. I put Seafoam in the oil this time so it's a little dark (I'm changing the oil after the install today):

My helper\student:

Believe it or not, he's barely 3 and a half. He knows what brakes, struts, axles, tie rods, engines, transmissions, batteries, and alternators are. 44 inches tall...he's gonna be a big boy.
Good job and a cool helper/student
I wish my old man got me into cars at that young age....
All done, and she pulls quite a bit harder. I saw an old friend of mine on the test drive so I stopped to talk to him a bit, and did a little burn out for him. Those Falken Ziex 245s are pretty hard to get spinning, lol. It's at the point where I don't hear any squealing, not sure how much smoke there is though. There was some clatter on start-up from the rear, but after the oil change and about 2 minutes of running it all went away. So far, so good! Here's some pics:
Stock, still pretty clean:

Blurry, but you can see the different in the pedestals here:

I'll get a better idea of how she runs here in a few, I've only driven it maybe a mile...if that.
I did, it's on here somewhere. Let me go find it...

Thanks! I looked, but didn't have any luck. Obviously....lol
Great job on the car. Where did you get the hood? I was thinking of getting a functional ram air hood but don't know if I want to spend 1500
