Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Somewhat productive day I guess, but I didn't get what I wanted to done. Changed out the spark plugs, they were red from octane booster I'd put in before so I was able to get them replaced under warranty. Car drives a lot better now, more a difference than I expected. After that i washed the car, but didn't get a chance to wax it or anything because it looked like a storm was rolling in. I put everything away and nothing happened...naturally. I'll be hard at work polishing everything tomorrow. The hood really needs paint, but we'll see what I can do. There's some spots that are gone, so it won't be anywhere near perfect, but it'll be a lot better.

Just a wash, no wax or anything...not bad:

I never did get around to polishing and waxing and such. It's been hot. I did pick up a set of GXP seats that are in pretty good shape. I didn't notice that one of the trim pieces is missing on the driver side. Oh well, I'll probably be seeing this guy again. He seemed to flip cars, and when he found out I knew about the 4T65E's he became very friendly, lol. He's actually joining up here I believe. I went ahead and installed the passenger side seat, I'll rig up the heated seat portion later. I have to make a bezel for both switches and such, but it should be doable. Here's some pics, the seats were stacked on top of one another for the drive home so there's a few dents in the cushions that'll be gone by morning, mainly towards the front:

And the rest, going in tomorrow:

Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
good find....one seat in really throws off your color scheme, ha...that single driver's seat looks like it'll make a sweet desk chair or even a gaming chair of some sort....
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
It'll probably goto my mother-in-law, or my buddy at work. He's got an SE and we'll try and swap in the heated stuff. Who knows though. I got the whole set for $200, so I don't figure I did that bad. They're not perfect, but they fit the price nicely.

Wait, you approve of something? You feel okay? Lol, either way, thanks man!
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Ran into a major problem. A forward-backward threaded rod on the driver side track was bent...BAD. About 50* bad. On top of that, someone had tried using it and trashed the gear box at the end. I was able to recover the gear box and bent the rod back, a lot of threads were messed up so I cleaned them up as well as I could with a hack saw. The piece that rides on the threaded rod (lol) still moves smoothly (LOL), but it does get a little hard at times (Oh man, I kill me). I'm not able to fully repair the gear box because I can't get the end cap on without bending metal, then trying to bend it back after it's lined up. I'm going to use a hose clamp or 2. The pics will speak for themselves. Also, 97-03 tracks are NOT the same. I did some searching and never saw a definite answer, but now I have one. They can NOT swap between the two.
Finished product, before the hose clamps, the 50 * bend was where the threaded were messed up. If you look close you can see it:

Gear box do-hickey:

Cap should be facing the other way and part of the gear box, like this:

Will it work? Who knows. I'll find out here soon
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
as long as it works right?
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Which it does...kinda. I have it hooked up to an old battery charger to test and to moves...slowly, just like all the other motors.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Hot damn, it works! Super Comfy too, now onto the rears...
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
All done, lower back seat needs some tweaking to stay down, and I need a new driver side track\trim, but overall I'm very happy. I haven't driven it yet, but it's going be much more enjoyable, lol. I did find the problem with the springing back on the reclining part, I just need to learn out to tear it apart and fix it. That's another day, probably when I get the new track and such. I need to get new seat belt latches for the rear, the tan doesn't match. My camera died while I was trying to get some descent pics, I don't think these are very good. I'll get more tomorrow.

Hey better enjoy it. It's not often that I shell out compliments but GXP seats are bawse and I love mine!
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
I agree, these things are great. I need some parts for them, but they work fine as is, really. It's definitely in my top 5 favorite mods.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Now you need new headliner, door panels and dash
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
I need a new headliner anyways, so a color change might be in store there, same with the panels. I dunno on the dash though. We'll just have to see. As it sits now the colors don't clash, there's enough of each color to make it a good mix, IMO.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
dash isnt hard to change dont be scared lol
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
Oh I'm not worried about taking it off, I just don't know if I want to. I started out not wanting a full interior swap, but we'll see how it goes.
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
I kinda like the 2-tone look you got going on right now...like you said - enough of both colors to make it look like it's supposed to be like that...
Re: 2000 GTP...and so it begins...(LOTS of PICS)
+1 Also rocking 2008 GXP seats in a 2000 GTP with a Tan interior!
