thats the biggest issues. and id replace the external line with steel braided 3/4 line

rofllmfao
but the Block just got dropped off at the machine shop, owner of the machine shop was rather impressed with the project thus far and all the parts said i did great getting everything together (he is used to waiting on parts to arrive)
and car is currently at the paintshop
its an M90.
What CR pistons did you buy?
I'm curious why they want to know.
Nothing I've seen suggests the boost level would change the tolerances required for the motor.
Being boosted requires larger ring gap, and forged pistons requires larger ring gap.
there will be plenty of boost then.
CR is a significant factor in how much boost you can run, but so is your dynamic compression ratio.
So your cam (which has no known specs thus its impossible to calculate DCR), bore, stroke, rod length all help determine DCR.
Simple way of looking at it is, cam lowers it, boost raises it.
So look at what boost levels others running the XPZ use.
Al heads wont matter in this equation because any increased compression you can run will already be imposed by their smaller combustion chamber.
Might want to consider having an experienced machinist work your heads over a little, IIRC there is still room for improvement.
As for timing, you need your peak pressure at a certain point.
IIRC, you typically want 14-16 ATDC for most motors. Unsure on value for our motors.
That depends on your combustion chamber design and a few other details.
AFR and timing are closely related though.
Richer you run, slower fuel burns, more timing you need to achieve same peak pressure point.
I personally really enjoy watching all the work you put into your car. New JE pistons and what not, people saying your wasting your money, but its your choice and your money. Your doing one hell of a build, and we can all agree on that. Its your money and not oursId go the supercharged route over a turbo personally just because i love to hear the supercharger scream, even if i dont get as much power from it. just my opinion. Your car will be plenty quick when the build is done. Keep up the good work
X2. Do what U want. People hating cause they didn't have the money to spend on building a bottom end. If they did have the money, don't ya think they would have of?
You did it right and will officially have a complete built motor. Not just half built like most people do.
Props to your build!
At what HP level? And plenty have thrown rod and cam bearings after rebuilding the engine, Im not hating on the build at all just askin why not run the bottom end until I gives up the ghost. My bet is other parts would fail before that bottom end. Either way like i said earlier hope you crack 400 whp and any plans do do E85 ?
Exactly. Anyone can throw together a turbo and pray. I like how he is spending the clams and doing a solid build. Even after these cars are already aging. You don't see people these days doin that. They know motors cost 200-300 from the junkyard so if it blows, no biggie.
