If you look at the way air flows into the upper and lower manifolds, it has to go up, then down into the lower manifold.

With a HV3 insert, it flows straight in, and then down into the lower intake. Without an HV3, it just goes in and eventually finds its way into the engine.

Like I said before, now I need an HV3. Lol

So it removes alot of restrictions and the hv3 smooths things out, I'm just wondering because my intake is coming off this week for other reasons but I was wondering if there would be any benefits to removing mine.

It does remove restrictions, but there is turbulence created with it not being there to "direct" the air...

I see, what about cutting it at about the halfway of the runners just so the air doesn't have to travel up before down?

It will still create turbulence, the only insert that doesn't is the HV3.

I'm gonna grab a couple extra quarts of cheap oil to flush the pan, should I put something just as cheap to run it for a week or so, or get something slightly better and give it 2-3 weeks?

I'm just saying, I've never had the milkshake problem before so I'm a bit unsure... At least I know not to drive it. Lol

    Got the brackets cut out.

Now just to go over it with a grinder, drill, tap, and clean them up nice.

Got a blip of 0.1° of kr, much better than the ~5° at 48% throttle I had before... I just hope the fuel trims start leaning out more.

-25 LTFT at idle smells funny...or maybe that's the little bit of oil I may or may not have accidentally dripped onto the exhaust...lol

Oh, and I need to clean up the interior a little and show off my new $5 floormats. Lol

Over the course of almost 5 hours, I've managed to almost brick, unbrick, completely f*ck up and finally fix my PCM...

I really need to learn to not break stuff. Lol

I bled the coolant system this morning, it took almost an entire extra gallon. Lol

And on top of that, I'm looking at doing new lifters and a cam here soon. That tick is getting very apparent, even with a quart of 10w-40.

Including the very small leak that has developed from the valve covers, this is becoming more and more apparent that the top swap should be hurried along, so all of these small things can be dealt with in one fell swoop. I just need the parts and gaskets. Lol

Got it test fitted, seems to be in the generally correct place.

Now I just need to figure out what kind of finish I want these brackets to have, and bolt them up. Right now I'm leaning towards a can of rubberized undercoating, but suggestions are welcome. Lol

    I did it...

I got an appointment scheduled for the valve cover leak recall thing.

They're replacing both the front and rear valve covers, and at the same time I said what the hell, do the dumb key one as well.

Since I told them I only have one key, they're cutting a new one for me. It's nice to have extras.

The way I see it, it's money I'm not spending on fixing the leak myself, that can go towards more mods. lol
