Hey all. Just found the site. Let me start off saying that I am not a Grand Prix collector. I collect and build older cars but appreciate all limited and rare cars and can't stand to see hard to find parts distroyed. I found this site researching a car my neighbor was going to send to the scrapper.

    A 2000 GTP Daytona 500.

I bought the car from them to try to save the rarer parts from being taken to the crusher. Can someone please let me know how many post I need to be able to make these parts available in the classifieds? Thanks, Jeff

here is a pic of my current project. It will be fenderless with a 392 hemi.

Not sure on the number, more than 25-30 for sure though and a given amount of time or how often you are contributing.

It's fairly easy to rack up posts if help out in threads.

Thanks FFDP. Here is a pic of the Daytona I will be parting on the classifieds when I get enough points. It always amazes me that some people will just crush stuff like this instead of trying to preserve limited production parts.

Isetta, thank you. Sounds like a cool A build for sure. Hey if you got a clean title on the GP I think its worth checking into fixing... from a transportation standpoint and since you have a place to work on it. Maybe go take one for a spin at a car lot if you've never driven one. They are a little interesting, thats why their popularity and sales were so great.

Wicked Model A project. Will it be "ratty", flashy, or retro-style?

I think its probably 25 posts. Don't know.

You may be suprised to find that nothing off the car you saved is worth anything. Seriously, rare isn't a word in FWD GP speak. None of them are worth more than 2,500 and any part you have can't be more than fifty bucks or so even if its a good engine or trans. Hopefully it softens the news to hear it from another old car freak. They are hardly worth the effort of parting out. People expect garage sale prices that won't even cover your labor to take a part off.

IDRIVEJUNK. I am going to build it in an eally 60s style traditional look. It will get a 3" haircut and the body is going to be set on a deuce frame.

I know the parts won't be worth a fortune but would rather see them saved for someone who will need them. I would just like to recoup my money that I paid. This car has 250k on it and I believe it has a broken crank snout. I will just be trying to sell the Daytona specific parts prior to it going to the happy racetrack in the sky.

Wow, I almost wanted to say thats my uncle's old car but nope, his was a 77. I dig 70-7 Montes and Malibus too.

Thanks for the "like" on my GP's looks. Its just something I threw together that happened to work out visually when done.

Its IDJ or 'junk, for short. Whereabouts in OK are you? I'm in NW AR, about a half hour from the state line. Old Fords are really popular here too, but I'm a GM nut. All I seem to work on is Fords though, lol.

The drivers side is the side they don't make anymore correct? I know you can still order, or used to be able to order one of the sides from GM I do not recall which one it was though.

Looks like someone already snagged one roof rail, and that hood isn't the original. So someone either sold the original one or had the hood replaced due to damage.

Which show? Eureka Springs is not far. The only show I even try to go to is the one locally thats part of the big bike rally we have. I think that spills over into Eureka, too. Eureka's big thing is the Corvette rally. Bet you've seen some of my work before.

Cool beans. It takes all kinds of GPF-ers to make the world go around. We'll get that post count up! Looks like you need to charge your phone (in monte pic) so I'm gonna go burn rubber while the sun is out.

Cool, best choice IMO on the A. Deuce grille shell or A? I was involved with a build of one a couple years back, and the grille makes a whale of a difference. Looks like you actually have a fairly decent specimen to start with.

The parts price thing is just yeah disappointing. I crashed my 40th anniversary GTP coupe (1 of 1147) and hoped to do the same noble thing. Now I just live in a house full of worthless parts lol. A remarkable number of those parts will readily lend themselves to hot rod projects though. And sufficient patience may prove it worthwhile if a buyer for some of your model-specific stuff comes along. I had one lined up for some 40th stuff but a baby came along on his end. Rats!

They were going to try to sell the headlights from it. They are in the trunk. They said it never had a driver side roof rail when they bought it. As for the hood, I don't know if it was replaced at some point, I thought it was supposed to have scoops.
