This thread makes me so happy that I don't own a GP.

idk im a newb but is it unreasonable to go to the jy and cut out some donor strut towers? mine are rusted also not all to bad but i was planning on doing that
ITHURTZ - I wasn't talking about the actual rocker panel. The part I am talking about runs along the bottom of the plastic molding and is riveted in on each end. I should have been a little more clear since it does sound like I am talking about the rocker.
The underside of the molding is held in place by the part I am talking about.
You're talking about the rocker cover support bracket which is no longer available through GM. Your best best if you need one of these is to find someone in the south where rust isn't common to pick a set up for you at a pick and pull or off a car they're parting out.
I figured the only way to find them would be at a junk yard or luck into a set on ebay, etc. Even if I did find some at a junkyard around where I live they would probably be in the same shape mine are.
I found some on a GM website but the only way they can be bought is in a combo with the lower molding, and they want like 450 bucks for each side. I might be able to fix mine with a little bit of fab work, but I would really like to just buy a new set(or solid used set).
I started taking apart all the interior last night. It really needs a good cleaning, and while all this is going on it would be an excellent time to pull the carpet completely out to give it a thorough cleaning as well.
One good thing I have in my favor is that I am a welder, so that part will be easy. The hard part is gonna be dealing with my wife trying to justify spending a bunch of money on my "old car" as she likes to call it.
yup, I get the " why dont you just buy a new one" everytime I touch it.
