    I seriously laughed when reading some of these posts with all of the easy questions. Im not a master mechanic by ANY means but some questions were just ridiculous! Lol. Btw, nice method of open cone.

    Eh, we were all noobs at one point of our modding careers.

    By the way, this isn't an open cone. Open cone is just sticking the filter onto the throttle body.

    my feeling is if the cone doesn't have an enclosure or is not in a fender it is an open cone?.....

    when i get my blower on, i want to use an extra map sensor to do a test of pressure between an open cone right on the TB/MAF vs a FWI. Dyno data is great but if you can see the pressure difference then that should resolve this too. along with temp data

    i believe you because i've heard elsewhere of that being a problem...... i would suggest removing & cleaning it, followed by replacing your intake with a dry one. search the forums about how to clean the MAF.
    Yeah I did... Took the TB apart and cleaned everything including getting some MAF cleaner and sprayed the crap outta my MAF. Cleared everything then about a week later, light came back on. Guess Ill just be one of the many poor souls out there driving around a GP with with Check Engine light on.
    FYI: I have seen no discernible issue in power or throttle response since i received the code. So, oh well.

    Pairs, that is an AWESOME looking intake setup you have put together there... I have an 06 GT 3800 series III supercharged and I am hoping that the setup shown here will fit on my car. Any differences you know of ? Again, really a clean looking setup!

    i decided to do this. i was in menards and i remembered about this but couldn't remember if it said 3 inch or 4 inch pipe but i knew that the maf was 3 and my cone was 4 inches so i bought a 4 inch pipe with the bigger end and just cut it off and got a 3" to 4" rubber coupler. now im just waiting on my filter

    it will be fine the engine doesn't get that hot the plastics not sitting on hot metal, think about all the plastic under the hood that is closer to heat then the intake the factory box is plastic. but wouldn't hurt to go with metal this way is just cheaper

    Pairs, this is surely one of the cleanest intake setups Ive seen on this thread!! :-) I see that it is on an 02 GTP. I would like to order the same parts for my 06 Series III but am wondering what I will have to do with the MAF that currently resides
    just behind the factory airbox Any ideas??

    You'll just have to incorporate it into the intake setup, example: cutting the main piece of pipe in half, setting the MAF in the middle...and getting another set of clamps to secure it there.

    Or, make it super easy...and just bolt a cone filter to the end of the MAF sensor.

    check out the link in my signature to my member right, I've got a 05 Gt and i made my own intake reusing the maf. pretty straight forward.

    Great idea!! I just purchased a 2000 GTP. I'm loving the car!! I just did mine in about 40 minutes. Just did a test drive and yes... you sure can hear the supercharger now. I spent about $50 on parts. Advanced Auto Parts in my area had several filters and colors to choose from. Got the rest at Lowes and painted the 45 degree street elbow silver using the high temp paint. I will fill it up to see if I have any change in fuel economy. Next will be headers and exhaust work.

    Finally put mine in and I have to say it surprised me. You can clearly hear it working and the supercharger is a lot louder. Only problem I'm having is finding a way to mount the ECU. So far so good!
