If you did not draw a vacuum on the system first before adding Freon, you will never be able to have the correct amount of Freon because there is air in the system.

I did - used the cheap air powered pump on a compressor and ran it for 20-25 minutes (manual said 10), then saw it held for about 30 minutes. It's strange the first can was fine taking the whole thing, then it just stopped
I tested the hoses and connectors and they seem to be fine, and I do get readings on the gauges so I don't think that's the issue. I'm putting in a picture of the gauges, current 63 degrees 87% humidity. The high side would bounce from about 100 to 200 u when I had the can on, but was at about 150 when off or maybe it just settled down. Still seem like there's air in the system? Maybe I need to take it somewhere to vacuum it better. Just strange it took exactly one can, then nothing at all from the next ones (was watching the glass)

Well, some good news - went and got another can of r134a, hooked it up to an old standalone hose/tap I had before and I now worked, and it took the full can. Not sure what's up with the manifold gauges I have since they seen to be able to take readings and I can pass air through them, but doesn't seem to charge. May have to check with the seller
Way too many variables and things done not to spec. Sorry bud. I tried to be clear as possible. It's not something you can "hack" together and expect it to work.
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean? The only thing I didn't do was change the orifice tube, which people say you can get away with based on why the system failed, in my case a leak in the compressor and no signs of shaving in the compressor oil and the accumulator also being clean with the dryer bags intact - I wouldn't say it was hacked together? Replaced the compressor and accumalor, put in the proper amounts of oil in each, vacuumed down the system longer than the manual said, saw it held pressure for 30+ minutes. Am I missing something?
I was having an issue filling the system, but this morning i used another hose and it worked fine so I think something is wrong with the manifold gauges I bought.
But everything is working fine now. Can you please explain what you mean?
