Don't forget that sometimes you have to turn the PS mode on with a tuner too. If it doesn't have the correct settings in the PCM then it won't work even with the knob.
Out traction control is not a full out constant on system Only works up to 20 or 25 MPH after that it disabled until it is back at 20/25 mph.
IT is nice in some spots but if you learn to drive most of the time it is better to have it off.
I always drive with it off and pref shift on.
Also pref shift in long run can be thought of a tranny saver. Why? Quicker shifts thus less stress // Heat on clutch packs. Why shift kits are so nice too.
the only beef i have w/ps is I have long steep hills here..you cant down shift fast enough to slow down. But if I'm highway driving..i leave it on. The PS is really hard on my brakes trying to slow the beast down.
I've tested my MPG with and without Performance Shift on and it really is no different. However it is more fun to drive with it on, and it's better on the trans. so I leave it on all the time.
O and on Pref Shift on 01+ gtps.
It is engaged at wot by the pcm.
if you want to add a switch Pin #21 on one the pcm connectors if i remember right. Just needs to be grounded out and you have to add the wire as it is not there.
