I've had the heater hoses (90 degree plastic hose for radiator fluid) replaced on my GTP a couple times, we tried the AutoZone type then did a GM type and still they continue to bust/crack/break. My mechanic thought he saw a metal version of them somewhere so I was wondering if anyone has seen this and where to buy them to speed up the repair time. Any help would be wonderful or any other suggestions on how to keep these damn things from breaking. Thanks!!

If you are referring to the coolant elbows, then no. I've not seen a metal set. There was talk of someone making them but I've yet to see a set made. If they keep leaking then it sounds like they are being installed wrong. I've had no issues from the Dorman brand ones that are in the "Help" section of autozone and the like. Just lube the orings on them and then make sure they are going in squarely as you tighten the tensioner assembly. If you get it in there slightly off then it will leak again soon.

Dorman actually did report a problem with their manufacturing line on the elbows a while back and they do stand behind their lifetime warranty.

Something to consider though. These should be installed in clean (no ridges from the previous elbow) tensioner/lim/timing cover holes. Using a lubricant on the o-rings. I prefer vasoline (cheap and in the toolbox) or oil. When tightening the tensioner to the head of the motor, wiggle the top elbow to ensure it does not get bound. Even when the bolts are fully tightened, it should have a little play. If that doesn't happen the elbow tends to deform with heat and leak.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Even putting a little coolant on the oring lubricates well. Doesn't take much. If its not sliding in there fairly easy then u have possibly a broken piece in there still

Has anyone used these yet? I'm thinking about buying some just so I have them already for the next time my coolant elbows die.

I will next time they need to be changed out. Anyone have any opinions on the ZZP metal collant elbows? I'm sure there are some pros/cons to them and I'd love to know some of them before I go out and buy these.

I'm pretty sure I never said that they did anything because of what I said. I'm just noting that when I first made this post no one knew of a company that made metal ones. I looked on the ZZP website randomly yesterday and noticed they were there. Besides, kinda late for you to come in now and say "some one else has been doing this" if you knew that should have said something then.

From 2 weeks ago, ok. So is it just me or does it seem like it's a new part then? Or have all of us really not seen it for that long?
