That is what I meant by programming mode, as back in '07 that is what ZZP told me I was experiencing by the DIC flashing 0.0's...

Well, they lied to you as it was not in "programming mode"... Your DIC just didnt have anything to talk to, so it got pissed off.

could have been the wrong bin file (like, sometimes a regal or a montecarlo file in a GTP would cause this, although it is rare), or it could have been a mechanical issue.

You never did say what caused the failure, or at least what events lead up to the failure.

What other events would there have been?

The car was pretty much stock...intake, 3" downpipe, PEM's, 3" catback...the only other factor that was put into the situation was the PCM. And since it was the ONLY factor that changed...it was deemed that was the issue. Driving style never changed, always had 92 octane in it, oil changed every 3K since I had purchased it at 42k...I know your a ZZP nut hugger and your trying to defend them up and down so I'm really going to try and argue the point with you, since it equates to beating on a dead horse. I don't like them and other people have had crappy experiences and even worse customer service issues...OTHERS, such as yourself, VS, and TXSLOW6 apparently haven't had issues...so good for you, hope you continue to have good luck in the future. The end.

So... what was failure that forced you to draw this conclution?

Toasted is the only thing that you have said so far, which would lead me to believe your engine caught on fire due to the PCM.

#3 piston chipped at the 1:00 position...the same as 99% of all the chipped piston locations. Thought that was it...cylinder walls looked fine. Thought we could just swap the piston and be fine but when the oil pan came off the entire skirt was gone.

And toasted meaning, blew up...you know what I mean.

    No..

You can blow a headgasket, blow a piston up, chip a piston, blow a wrist pin, shoot a rod through the block, get rod knock, break the crank, drop a valve, break a valve spring, wipe a cam bearing, break a timing chain.... I can keep going if you wish.

You also probably never meantion that this happened almost 4 years ago...

You humor fails, you know what I was getting at.

I have mentioned when it happened as well.

    Many times.

Also, what does the timeframe have to do with anything? Have they changed anything since then? And if so, what have they done to improve anything?

They must have changed something cause neither one of my PCMs did that. One was back in 08 never had an issue. With that ZZP PCM, HAI, 3.4 pulley, 1.9 rockers, 3" dp, SSIC I put down 271hp/325tq.

Timeframe has plenty to do with it. Things change. If you say that you had 5 PCM's where all had the same issue you don't believe they would investigate the problem further. This way future customers wouldn't go through the same headache you did? Especially seeing as though you refered to the Missouri attorney to handle the situation.

I'm still curious as to why you continued using the same company after the issue was still there with the 2nd PCM.

And people think their engine is gonna blow due to the safely modding your car thread. Your comments in regard to ZZP scare people into believing if they use the same company for a PCM then they will have the same issues you did.

I appreciate Nick's feelings and his honesty. He is only looking out for us and not wanting any of us to go through what he did. Now with that being said I WILL be getting a ZZP tune. I live and work in the Grand Rapids area. So it will be easy for me. Now if something happens I can not blame Nick. OR anyone else for that matter. He has said before that he knows people that have had luck with them... He just didn't.

Not the way I was treated, no. The customer service was awful. The reason I had so many was because they wouldn't refund my money...so they kept sending them after I kept running into the same problem, with the DIC flashing 0.0's instead of doing the right thing and owning up to their own product and just giving my money back...and being the nice guy I am I gave them too many chances to make it right, obviously. Working in customer service everyday I like to believe that the customer IS always right, even though in today's society that mentality has been thrown out the window anymore. WHICH, is why I got the MO. Att. General involved...so I could get my money and my stock PCM back. It was a last ditch effort that worked.

I'm still curious as why this is so difficult to comprehend...I never paid a dime other than the gas it took to mail the PCM back to them and the inconvience of not having my car of course and having to bum rides off of people.

BUT...LIKE I HAVE SAID. If there are other PCM's out there for the same price, why not buy the one that has never had any issues, like the DHP? That has been out since before most of us even were old enough to drive. So even if ZZP has had one or two bad track records, which they have had PLENTY more, if you were new to the WBody world and you had both options at the same price, wouldn't you take the latter with less problems? Or maybe that just makes too much sense?

You still dont even know if it was the PCM that was at fault though.

You are quite possibly one of very few people that has ever had a zzp pcm not "work" in your car.... wouldnt you find it strange that you are that special for them to screw up 5 times, when they have done hundereds of these otherwise without issues.

How are you saying I'm the only one to ever have issues?

There are two people that I mentioned that recently had issues as well. Plenty of people in the past as well...just like Intense PCM's that were junk.

And you DON'T know that the PCM WASN'T at fault either, quit talking out your ass like you were here seeing it all happen first hand. And funny, how you would find it "special"? Like I'm sitting here telling a big ol' lie just to get people to believe me? LOL...it's your money, if you want to buy one...go for it...I don't care. I'm just giving my two cents in my experience.

The fact that I have been tuning with DHP for 5 years should be some hint as to why I would sorta know what I am talking about here... I have done mail order tuning before without issues like this.

Problems with intense pcm's have been well documented and pinpointed to specific things (knock detection disabling, etc). I have yet to see a "stuck in programming mode omg flashing **** everywhere motor go boom" zzp thread on any forum, nor have I ever heard a story from any of my friends from zzp suggesting something like this.

So, just because you don't know anyone with this issue means it never happened? C'mon guy...I'm not saying anywhere you don't know how to run a DHP Powertuner, or HPT...I'm just telling you...WHAT HAPPENED TO ME...and all of them made the DIC flash 0.0. A good buddy of mine has been running a canned 1.0 ZZP PCM in his short stacked 3.2" '97 car, at the same time...never had one issue. I have no doubt they can't tune a PCM...because if that is the case they wouldn't hold tons of WBody records...I'm stating what happened to me, take it how you will.

While you may do that in this thread, you have made it VERY clear in others that you are speaking for a large group of people in the context of zzp pcm's being very bad.

i will say this in ZZP's defense. You can run a 3.4 on stock everything else with one of their PCM's. The tunes run FAT. Like lower 10's AFR.

C'mon Nick is not going to change his mind on zzp tunes. He's a customer like the rest of us, he used a product and it didn't work out for him. I would never recommend a product that gave me problems.

That happened a few years ago, maybe zzp improved their service over time, maybe not, the thread is to ask for opinions, not to try to change everybody's opinion about it.

I'm going enlighten you on basic customer service skills...

That for every ONE thing that is done good, you hear TEN BAD things...the basics in today's society is that the general population tends to share a craptastic experience before they admit they had a great experience elsewhere...just like if you go to a restaurant and the server was good...you'll just tip him more than the typical 15% and most likely, that's the end of it...now if a server cusses you out and spits in your food...everyone and their dog that you know will hear about it. It's just human nature. I'm a broken record here, and I hope everyone that has a ZZP PCM continues to have a great experience with it.

Yet I see a few threads popping up around here that involves a problem, lets say your rockers are rusting... The guy lists his mods: zzp pcm, 3.6 pulley, downpipe. Then this follows:

3 people post "omg, zzp pcm is your problem".
