Water in car

I got in my car to find a good sized puddle on the floor of my car. I don't really know where it came from but after talking with a few friends we ruled out the heater core because the puddle doesn't smeel, look, or taste like it has antifreeze in it. The puddle smells like old musty water, like it was sitting in a steel pipe for a while. One of my buddies dads thought the A/C condenser line may have burst. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if they have other ideas of the puddle could have come from. TIA

i took a thick plastic bag cut it and tucked it under the lip where the original flap is tucked in, folded it to the other side and caulked both sides at the top with a thin bead of caulk just to hold it in place, mines been like this for a year now and still dont leak.

ideally some kind of peel and stick rubber would work too, or some old rubber tube and rubber cement would work as well, just gluing a patch on the old flap, if you know what i mean.

ya passenger floorboard and it just rained... So you guys think its coming from the vent? I'll look into it more tomorrow. I just soaked the water up for now, moved some cars, and put it in the garage. I hope its that flap scottydoggs is talkin about. that will be the first thing i check.

pull the carpet up at the side and top of the floor where it goes up, there is foam under the rug that is up to 4 inches thick, it holds water for ever, and stinks. i lifted mine and propped it up with some tools and aimed a fan at it, and coated the carpet with baking soda, use a shop vac to vac it up, the soda can kill a regular house vac, or the car washes vac.

the water actually leaks from under the rug, and soaks threw to the top.

and there is a rubber plug/drain in the floor under the rug too, you can pull that and push water down the hole as well.
