Sythetic oil is superior to conventional oil, but because most of us have a car worth less than $6000......

    DETOX Comparison Chart

Seems GM wants synthetic or nothing.

Well "synthetic".... considering group III isn't really syn.

decided that since 0w 30 royal purple does so good in the bike that i would try it in my wifes cobalt. it is the 2.2 non turbo and its brand new. instead of 0w 30 i went with 5w 30 just because the car doesnt rev that high. with normal full synthetic from castrol the car is averaging 29 mpg with my heavy ass foot. this includes city and highway driving. we bought this car in august and it already has 17k miles on it. i have made 2 trips from missouri to atlanta in it. both trips i averaged 36 mpg.

we will continue to use the balt the exact same way as before and i will update you guys on whether it did anything for fuel mileage or butt dyno.

There is a NAPA store about an hour from me that sells it by the quart in bottles. I always buy a 30 gallon drum, though, and the Schaeffer guy delivers it to my house.

I have used castrol syntec, mobil 1 and royal purple. I used to get what ever was on sale. Now I have switched back to mobil 1 and will stick with it from now on.

    Yeah, I said it.
I do too, but filter every 3k. Filters don't last that long. I always use full syn major brand usually whatever is on sale. Syn blend is junk, just get conventional if you dont get full.

I read a thing on a forum a few months back that even ACDelco was having some product quality control issues. So my faith in them has pretty much deteriorated.

I've always used them because I get them cheap....but oh well.
