Now that I have ruled out putting those "fart cannons" on my grand prix I have some money to burn, I like to spend money.
What is everyones thought on synthetic engine oil compared to a basic 5W30 oil change. Is it worth the extra cost?

if you change your oil every 3k miles it really doesnt matter all that much. i always ran cheap, ****ty oil in my car and it ran just great.

Theres not a damn thing wrong with a good conventional oil. My family has taken motors 100s or thousands of miles on it with no problems.

I think oil should be changed every 2,500-3,000 miles like clock work, I'd never leave oil in any of my cars any longer than that. Oil is cheap... As for synthetic, i've seen many motors last a long damn time on conventional so I see nothing wrong with it...

Since the swap I've been running Mobile 1 10w 30 in the engine and the blower. Most people on here will disagree with me on running it in the blower though.

for the money you can do WAAAY better then royal purple. if i were to spend that much, amsoil or redline would be my choice. and yes, in the end it may be the same, however it takes synthetic oil a HELL of alot longer to get to the end

if your changing your synthetic oil every 3000 miles, PLEASE, send me your used oil!

well i run 10/30 or 5/30 mobil one synthetic extended performance cause i can get it for like 25 bucks for 5 quarts. anyways in my Igersoll Rand compressor if you use petrolem based oil you can run it to 65% duty cycle but with there synthetic oil you can run the compressor 100% duty cycle time. Petrolem based oils do work i think thats obvious but I think we will get to the point where synthetics will take over cause they are better oil.

ive always ran full synthetic, but keep this in mind... once you put synthetic in your car, you can NEVER go back to regular oil.

thats about the biggest line of BS ive read today. as long as your gaskets and everything are in good condition, you will have absolutely NO problems switching back and forth
