    torque to yield, stretch bolt.
    get reusable bolts
    105 springs
    new valve cover gaskets and gromets
    some assembly lube
    01 gtp-big cam e85 dd 78dodge- guzzling fuel 05 cummins- rollin coal

    this is what ive never understood.. torque to yield bolts need replaced after removal.. because of bolt stretch..correct?

    torque is the amount of bolt stretch applied to a fastener.. so always replace used bolts since they've been stretched?

    or is it on particular bolts (ie TTY), once it's been torqued it wont return to its normal length?

    i torque sh*t all day at work, but i'm in assembly, assembling new parts not reused. never gave it a thought thanks.

    Yeah they stretch. You torque them to a certain and then some many degrees extra.
