    Directions to pull your engine??

Well its easier to take out if you pull your blower off, this gives you more room to work. You need to undo the wiring harness from everything, it should be completely free from the engine (don't forget the starter and the rear o2 Sensor). you have a couple clips that you'll need to get to from under the car. Remove the torque converter bolts, remove your power steering lines, and your exhaust. Undo all the bolts connecting the engine to the tranny. One bolt is going the other direction that you cant see. You'll need like a 24" extension and have to get to it from the passenger side wheel well. There are several other little things that need to be done to, but I would assume most of them would be common sense if your even considering pulling your engine.

Anyways something like that, have fun hope you have an engine hoist and its always easier if your engine brackets are still on your block somewhere otherwise you gotta find a place to connect the chain to.

Good luck, I am sure there are much better write ups for this somewhere, but I have done it a couple times and seems like you always miss something once you start to pull the engine. Once it was the power steering line, I forgot to take that off, and then the first time I didn't know about the bolt coming from the other side connecting the engine and tranny. Even once you get all the bolts you usually have to pry the engine away from the transmission with a crow bar or something to separate them.

Yeah i think i'm gonna try and pull my motor out myself, i think i'm going to buy paper tags and put them on every plug soo & write what it is soo i know where to plug everything back in, and probably take pics if i dont feel 100% confident. I have never seen a seen a haynes manual for the 97-03 grand prix, i'm guessing it's under buick or gm fwd's/

I respectfully say that if you have to ask, then it's probably not a job for you, unless you're just asking for tips on things to look out for that can commonly be missed.

pfft...take the motor out only, taking the transmission out at the same time for no reason causes a lot more work.

Don't remove the supercharger like stated. That's a complete waist of time and very unnecessary. I've had mine out with basic hand tools in 3 hours.

    Good luck notlikeus....

It's easier if you remove the blower/lim all in one go...takes about 10minues, and give way more room to remove **** on the back bank, plus it takes off a good damn chunk of weight.

benner, I've removed the engine with everything on it, and I'd personally rather remove as much as I can.

But with a ratchet, and some wrenches, you can get the entire motor out pretty damn quick. Worst part is the farthest back bolt holding the motor to the trans..takes like a 41 mile long extension to get it out.

Hey first off, sorry if I sounded like an Ahole. Just reread it and it came off as angry.

Reason I'm saying not to remove it is because it's just another thing he has to throw money into if he wasn't planning on removing it anyway. Plus if he's not sure of his mechanical abilities there's more chance of screwing something up putting it back together.

Oh no, not at all, and not trying to be an ass either...I just prefer to have the less weight on the hoist and and engine stand....now putting the motor back in, I'd much rather have it as complete as possible...

Hell, when I did my headers, I had the motor out to fix a broken flex-plate..I just slapped the headers on with the engine out, and coaxed it in...
No idea how, but I managed to get that **** in there....

I'd say, Go with what you're comfortable with.

You caaannnnn, obviously gotta take more stuff off, and wiggles it lots. Most people will actually drop the subframe at that point in time, and jack the car up off of the engine/trans, then slide the whole assembly out.
