From what I found online, this is pretty much what you need to get up and running with Bluetooth OBDII. I've been researching this myself as I have a Moto Droid and this would be super cool. If I get anything wrong, let me know and I'll fix it!
1. First you need the adapter. The unit is pretty ubiquidous. Its an "ELM327." Different versions with different bodies and software cd's can be found on eBay. Or you can buy it from my favorite cheap Chinese crap site, DealExtreme.
Firmware version v1.4 seems to be the most up to date.
This is what you want:Standard: ELM327 1.3A COM compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
Standard: ELM327 1.3A USB compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
Standard: ELM327 1.3A Bluetooth compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
Standard: ELM327 1.4 USB compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
Standard: ELM327 1.4 Bluetooth compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
Amazon has some reviews of it.ELM327 Bluetooth

2. Next you need a Bluetooth enabled device. This can be a computer with Bluetooth functionality or a smartphone.
3. Lastly, you need software that can read the signals coming from the adapter in an easy format and allow for changes to be made (IE, clearing codes).
On Android, there are a few options. "Torque" seems to be the most popular.

That seems pretty accurate. I am using the cheap eBay one that I linked a page or so back without any issues. It says in the listing that it is v 1.3, but again, no problems from what I can tell.
Also, someone asked if it can read and clear check engine/service engine soon codes... Yes it can.
Here is a video review on YouTube. He shows the unit connected with his Evo 4G in his jeep in real time.

Updates anyone?
I'm not letting this thread die. lol
I still plan to load the PIDs and check my KR if I ever get any time. I need to put a new carb on my generator in case the storm knocks out the power.
Updates fellas? KR working? Everything working well?
Has any one used this for a blackberry??
I can't find the blackberry app![]()
the one i saw was posted on here a while ago, but here is the link..
LapLogger - OBD2 reader/logger
I don't have the touch screen Storm, so that may be why I can't find it in BBWorld. (ap store)
i never found in in the app world... just curious is anyone has used it...
After doing some more reading on their site, they say that it works on OS 4.5 and up.... guess you just have to buy it straight from them.
Yeah same here. The money for the phone and the adapter I wanna know if KR works.
i've tried every suggestion online on top of my own attempts and KR does not work.
not sure if it ever will, it shouldn't be this difficult.
Isn't there an e-mail for the guy who made the program floating around somewhere on here? I thought someone was in direct contact with him to get KR working?
