From what I found online, this is pretty much what you need to get up and running with Bluetooth OBDII. I've been researching this myself as I have a Moto Droid and this would be super cool. If I get anything wrong, let me know and I'll fix it!

    1. First you need the adapter. The unit is pretty ubiquidous. Its an "ELM327." Different versions with different bodies and software cd's can be found on eBay. Or you can buy it from my favorite cheap Chinese crap site, DealExtreme.

Firmware version v1.4 seems to be the most up to date.
    Standard: ELM327 1.3A COM compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
    Standard: ELM327 1.3A USB compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
    Standard: ELM327 1.3A Bluetooth compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
    Standard: ELM327 1.4 USB compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
    Standard: ELM327 1.4 Bluetooth compatible, protocol K+L+CAN, 1996~present
    This is what you want:
    ELM327 Bluetooth

OBDII decode chip: Microchip PIC18F2580 (ELM327 compatible)
    Firmware: Version 1.4
    Transfer baud rate: 4800 / 9600 / 10400 / 38400 / 500K
    Input interface: OBDII male 16pin
Output interface: Bluetooth Class 2 (communication range is about 15meters)
Indicator LED: OBD Tx (yellow) /Rx (green), PC RS232 Tx/Rx, Power (red)
Operating Voltage: 12V, including over voltage /shortage protection
    Nominal Idle current: 45mA
    Net Weight: 50g
    Wire Length: 0cm
Power: supplied by car OBD socket
Amazon has some reviews of it.

    2. Next you need a Bluetooth enabled device. This can be a computer with Bluetooth functionality or a smartphone.

    3. Lastly, you need software that can read the signals coming from the adapter in an easy format and allow for changes to be made (IE, clearing codes).

On Android, there are a few options. "Torque" seems to be the most popular.

    For Windows Mobile Users:

For internet tablet users (Like the nokias: N770, N800, N810, N900):

That seems pretty accurate. I am using the cheap eBay one that I linked a page or so back without any issues. It says in the listing that it is v 1.3, but again, no problems from what I can tell.

Also, someone asked if it can read and clear check engine/service engine soon codes... Yes it can.

I still plan to load the PIDs and check my KR if I ever get any time. I need to put a new carb on my generator in case the storm knocks out the power.

After doing some more reading on their site, they say that it works on OS 4.5 and up.... guess you just have to buy it straight from them.

i've tried every suggestion online on top of my own attempts and KR does not work.

not sure if it ever will, it shouldn't be this difficult.

    97 GT - slow, rusty
93 CTD - more slow, less rust

Isn't there an e-mail for the guy who made the program floating around somewhere on here? I thought someone was in direct contact with him to get KR working?
