This is a dumb question, but when the hose is taken off and the coolant spills out is that ok for the engine or not? jw

    moved to correct section.

when you pull the upper hose, yes coolant will come out. just make sure you bleed the system of air before you get the car back out on the road...

do you mean coolant being on the engine? if it is just wipe what ya can up dont leave like huge puddles standing around, and then just run it. it may smoke a bit untill the coolant evaporates. And of course bleed the air out of the cooling system.

Ok, well my dad and I just got done switching the t-stat out and when we went to bleed it (I have an 06 so i had to use a socket) we heard nothing and nothing came out and when my dad tightened it all back up he broke off the very top of the valve. Will it be ok since he did tighten it all the way? Also, can I just get a new valve or will I have to replace the whole housing?

yeah you have to be carefull with those bleeder valves. you should be able to find just the valve but im not sure. i have one here but i have no clue if it will fit. you can always email Ed Morad at Moradpartscompany.com he should have some but the minium order is 15 shipped for any part unless you need somthing else.

Also you should make sure it is warmed up and the t-stat is open to properly bleed it off since coolant wont be flowing untill the car is warmed up.

ya it's cool what you can't dry off with a rag will dry off when you drive just make sure you bleed the air out the line there should be a copper screw on the top of thermo hose elbow remove it and run the car till all the air is out the line..(make sure you hold a rag to it or it'll be all in your face)

Ah ok, so I should leave the car running and bleed it at the same time? We thought that was a little risky so we warmed the car up and then shut it off to bleed it (we are in no way mechanically inclined lol). I stopped by autozone and they said that whole elbow/housing was about $11 or $12 so I will probably just go ahead and order that. Do you guys happen to know if there is anyone that sells a polished one?

you can use the one thats on there if its not broke there's no need to buy any..and if your going to bleed the line start when the car is cold..after you in stall your t-stat and your all hooke up and fulled up remove that bronze screw and then start the car and let it run and let the t-stat open and close a few times that should get all the air out..good luck!!
